Dry yeasties; Hydrate or not? - the final answer from Lallemand

Aye @the baron, good point. My yeast is kept in the freezer. I let it warm and try to match the wort when pouring. Re-shelf life/shop storage - The Novalager was a freebie direct from Lallemand - so should be the freshest I can get. 106g for 140L @ 10*C. It was a 500g brick as well...

    Stainless Steel Fermenters

I base my fills on weighing scales and a potable water meter. @Martin Kernick - I connect a clear hose to one of the TC connections on the cone. Lift the other end above the tank top. Slowly open valve and the hose becomes a liquid level indicator. athumb..

    Stainless Steel Fermenters

My purpose of brewing is to sell in our restaurant - It's a production line. I started with 4 Speidel 30L cider FV's in 2016. I treat them like kid gloves as I was paranoid about scratching the inner surfaces. Worked well, but I struggled as my volume increased + they were a *ugger to clean...

Dry yeasties; Hydrate or not? - the final answer from Lallemand

With me it's the fact that my FV access is limited and it's easier to pre-mix with bottled water, into the ultrasonic bath then just pour as i'm recirculating after I bottom fill. (But only when the wort is<27*c) I tried Novalager as a dry pour and it clumped + was very slow (48hr) to start...

Dry yeasties; Hydrate or not? - the final answer from Lallemand

    Pressure fermenting

Got 140L of LLal Novalager @ 10psi fermented @ 10*C now @ 2*C yeasties dumped. I think that this is the best Lager I've brewed to date! There may be something to this pressure fermenting after all. :beer1: Maybe the keyboard brewers who ain't tried it yet shouldn't say owt till they do...

    Brewery space disaster

OMG that's a nightmare. Through COVID we lived in our building site while our property was converted. We got a loan of an industrial vacuum that made such a difference. Also a VAX commercial cleaner. Just make sure you claim any additional costs from the original contractors? Photograph...

    Electric cars.

We run a 4 year old Citroen Dispatch 1.6 blu van it has 17K on the clock. This years service/MOT was £1,600 as the soot control system needed replacing after engine warning etc. Turns out the engine needs a damm good regular motorway 'thrash' to prevent the adblu and soot from clogging up...
