    Cask beer from a keg.

I used to sell Fyne Ales Avalanche (Light, hoppy, creamy, 5% gorgeousness) in a cask. After a number of years wasting beer when it off. I went over to a cask RLBS CO2 breather as the lifespan was massively extended. Minimal waste, good for the environment and us - That is the most important...

Making a DIY all in one brewing system?

My 50L BB pot is my most used pot because It is induction compatible. It also has 5 tri-clamp ferules welded on. 8kg gives around 42L wort. I use a Buffalo CE208. Blown one controller in 6 years, but easy to replace. Saves a lot of fek'n about with stoopid bloody elements IMHO. However, it...

Anybody experimented with recirculating dry hopping?

@hoppyscotty We think alike  I currently add hop tea after an overnight soak. But still not enough,,,, But your idea is a great alternative. Have you thought of peristaltic pumps? often used for chemical additions. Slow speed, 12v and isolated from the media they pump?Peristaltic...

    Bouncer beer filter help?

Yeah, got daddy been using it a couple of years up-stream of any of my pumps as protection. I only use fine (keeping the crud out the impeller) Sealing washer was affected by caustic CIP replaced with neoprene o-ring - much better! Got Triclamp fittings on it so easy to swap out. The outer...

    Storm Ciaran

I am honestly totally gob smacked with this,,,,,,,,athumb..clapa Who says British ingenuity is gone..:laugh8: Our last lost roof must have weighed over a tonne,,,, think I may need more than an e'bike. Last time several steel storage containers were blown over. Crofters, corrugated sheets and...

    Storm Ciaran

We get at least one or two 75-80mph storms each winter. Doesn't even get any newspace,, Maximum was over 100 mph recorded on our NATS radar some years ago. Lost two roofs on the restaurant in 17 years. A couple of years back my van got blown into our wall,,, guess who hadn't put the hand...

Klarstein 70 litre Brauheld Pro Mash Kettle (It's a wee bit big)

@ well @DocAnna I have now bit the bullet and bought a 70L as I had a discount code,,, Dismantled and changed the bazooka with a steel slinky. Decided to rest it on SS brush clips to keep it off the SS base. Also running it on a 16A IP65 plug as that's what most my stuff runs on. Travelling now...

    Brewzilla dead

I just wondered is it possible to replace a AIW (Klarstein) heating element and re-bond a new element to the base?

Do you fully disassemble kegs each time when you clean it?

I used to, but now I have made a hose to cornie out that I connect to the hot tap for rough clean. Also a jet gun. So blast with the jet gun and invert to wash from the hose. Dismantled occasionally, but found spotless so far. Tops get easy dismantle mainly the gas release and fat o'rings...

Used to be a professional brewer and just inherited a load of homebrew kit..

Welcome, Wow, those Chinese cornie kegs have been my mainstay - reliable and great size. Looks like a great range of kit as well. Good luck!

    Mash conversion at 62°C (143.6°F)

If you have more time and pans than sense, you could also try Decoction mashing. The Oxford Companion to Beer Definition of decoction I could see me doing this with the floor and me covered with hot sticky wort, that is a nightmare scenario I will happily not experience,,,,,, 🤣 ;) Imagine...

    Mash conversion at 62°C (143.6°F)

I bought a SR UKAS calibrated thermometer Reeves Brewing, Distilling Bottling and Bar Supplies ages ago. Very delicate (I keep it in a tube like my saccharometers ) It's only accurate to a *C but i use a magnifying lens and a scientific process of 'simple juxtaposition'...

    smart meters

We have a first gen 'smart'(sic) meter. It runs some of the time so we know fairly well how our business consumption is doing. However, my sadly missed buddy once said but if you use loads in a short space of time (as a seasonal business does) they may adjust your climate change levy and move...

    Over Attenuation

Just kegged an eek! 3 day Blonde @ 1.0040 - 1.003,,, US05 lost a bit control with the heat,,,,, Fingers crossed. Smells good though. Best test eh? Don't panic, just have a brew and sit back. 🤞

Clean In Place (CIP) - Yes Please!

TFR is not food grade. It's for automotive cleaning,,,,, 🤮 I do caustic using a 30ml pumped measure fitted onto the top of the 25L JC. I use a Diversy Deosan Activ dairy sanitiser. 5% PAA Loads cheaper than the Brewery version and same formulation. Pick it up from my friendly...

    Duty increase.

Aye @lancon; From SIBA (so glad i'm a member!!); They have confirmed that any beer that you have produced before 1 August 2023 that has not passed the duty point ahead of the 1 August (such as beer in duty suspense) will now be eligible for the Small Producer Relief (SPR) under the new system...

    Duty increase.

So now I need to calculate how much alcohol I have produced in the previous year to prove I am eligible for SPR. Not my production as was previously used but cumulative total of the volume of alcohol in each gyle. Thankfully I only do eight main recipes,,,, Still a total pain. So glad I only...
