    Beeping

Once you have a single touch screen in the car, running everything through it is far cheaper than individual switches for individual operations. It's done to keep the cost down rather than it being a better driving experience

What are you drinking tonight 2024.

Flavour particles are denser than water. They sink to the bottom of the keg.

What are you drinking tonight 2024.

It's a hairy biker stew for us this evening

What are you drinking tonight 2024.

We buy Chateau d'Aldi a lot. In blind taste tests, it's out performed offerings from Harrods, Waitrose and Moet&Chandon!

What are you drinking tonight 2024.

A quick saison whilst I make dinner

    What did you brew today?

Just bottled a short batch of @Twostage 's Louie. Brewed short to give OG if 1.071 that fermented (4.5L) to 1.017, then back liquored at bottling time to give 5% ABV

    Crossmyloof

It would be nice if they did release that information once they've closed. But I would imagine they won't as it could possibly cause legal issues

    Crossmyloof

This will especially annoy my wife. For the last 10 years I've bought multiple bags of hops at once to save on postage. And she's fed up with bags of hops in the freezer. And I don't like the "user-upper brews". In the last 6 months I switched to "buy what I need for each brew" (hops/yeast...

    Crossmyloof

That's a real shame. They've been fantastic for buy -as-need supplies for yeast and hops, without ridiculous postage charges

    Octopus energy

Unless you want a smart meter, just ignore them. The electricity suppliers have targets to meet to install small meters, but you are under no obligation to get one installed. Everything they say about inaccuracies, you "must" etc is just scare tactics. I was with SSE for years and they kept on...

    Octopus energy

👍 I'm no expert, but that's what I thought as well - all the suppliers outsource their fitting to local subcontractors. Same with solar installs.

Yes. But they didn't install our meter.

September 2024 - American Pale Ales

Yeah, I wasn't saying it was Pilgrim's fault. Just that a lot of things are out of our control. Having heard of many breakages (and received one), I don't risk it. Fortunately I don't seem to suffer as badly as others with storing in plastic. Most of my plastic bottles get drunk within 4-6 weeks...

    Plastic bottles in future pilgrim?

Cold Crash in addition to Finings? Anybody?

So what are they doing that's not technically scientific?

Cold Crash in addition to Finings? Anybody?

What would they need to improve on to make it scientific in your eyes? Which are the most unscientific parts of what they do? I'm genuinely curious.

    Monitoring leccy usage

Stand alone or "island" systems have their own ground spike (earth connection) as part of the installation. So if the battery and house can't take the load, the extra goes straight into the ground. So there is somewhere else for the electricity to go. Or it could be that varying draw from the...

    Monitoring leccy usage

No. It seems to be a one second duty cycle, you can only set the power.

Cold Crash in addition to Finings? Anybody?

You'll still get air getting sucked back into the fermenter, even if you don't get any of the water/vodka/starsan sucked back in, which was one of the factors they were looking at. The foil balloon makes sure that it's just c02 that's sucked back in instead of air

    Higher alcohol as estimated?

You can use a refractometer to calculate the ABV, but you need to know the initial brix, read the final brix value and then put it through a calculation. https://www.brewersfriend.com/refractometer-calculator/
