Unless you want a smart meter, just ignore them. The electricity suppliers have targets to meet to install small meters, but you are under no obligation to get one installed. Everything they say about inaccuracies, you "must" etc is just scare tactics. I was with SSE for years and they kept on...

No. It seems to be a one second duty cycle, you can only set the power.

You'll still get air getting sucked back into the fermenter, even if you don't get any of the water/vodka/starsan sucked back in, which was one of the factors they were looking at. The foil balloon makes sure that it's just c02 that's sucked back in instead of air
