    I've gone on conical

HI All, well after reading and looking reading some more I decided to say goodby to the buckets and go conical; push slightly over the edge by the fact I got as a pair these for just over £200. Chopped up and old pallet I had been meaning to take to the dump and they will gravity straight...

Ye olde Corny question (no doubt) again

for new agreed Unless I'm reading their web pages wrong, Keg Kingdom new £85 for 1 keg (free shipping) thehomebrewcompany £120 for 3 (used, free shipping) I guess it depends if you want new or used? if you want used and three is a number you can live with, then £40 a pop is cheap.

    'Simply' gluten free pale ale

White Labs sell Clarex, it was originally used for reducing chill haze IIRC and it turns out it breaks down the chains in gluten also. Just brew your beer as normal and add to fermentor, most gluten free people report no reaction to beer brewed in this way. Mind I wouldn't give it to a celiac...

Cornelius Kegs - which size beer line?

Never apologies for asking questions, when it comes to brewing there is only really one way and that's "what works for you." Anything is just a guide. I really enjoy hearing about what people are doing and it helps me review what I'm doing and keep me honest regarding my next steps and plans...

    'Simply' gluten free pale ale

Have you tried reduced gluten beer, I have been hearing good things about it? The up side is it uses standard mashing ingredients.

Cornelius Kegs - which size beer line?

Ah, OK so I missed explaining a bit here. Pressure rises as an exponential curve so at the lower end your right at 3 PSI your unlikely to lose 3 PSI per foot it will be less. Of course with the tap closed and 3 PSI in the tank you will have 3 PSI at the tap, however once the tap is opened and...

    Latest from Get Er Brewed.

I have gone fully organic, taste wise I have noting to report so far as the first batches are still in the fermentors. However, I have also gone sustainable and part of that is sourcing as locally as possible.

    inkbird

I built my own controllers from scratch, if I was doing it again I would just buy an Inkbird. Cost wise, I would also say if your going to put a controller in proper electrical box, cost comparison wise the Inkbird must be on par or cheaper. OK, I can controller my power and my units are...

    The down the sink thread

I have a wheat beer still sitting in a keg, it was quite sour at the start. Last time I checked it was improving so lets say the jury is out on this one atm :D

    Kegging for the first time

A quick experiment which might help you answer the questions is attach your gas line and turn on give your keg a rock and roll you will hear more CO2 going in, that's CO2 going into suspension in the beer and being replaced by new C02. I would say yes for the first 48 hours and then you can...

    My first yeast starter!

Good for you, you don't ask if you don't get. IIRC you can wash yeast up to 7 times (mentioned by a guy from white labs due to mutation; mind who knows what his motives might be for limiting it to 7) I reckon you should re-malt it again and see if you can build up a viable pitch amount.

30 minute Boil Time for an IPA?

Hi Beers, 1, I have not heard of a 30 min boil before that said the general guide for killing bugs and bacteria in water boil I believe is 15mins. 2, Another reason I know of for boiling for 60 mins is The longer the hops are boiled, the more IBU’s are contributed to the wort. 3, Oh...

Double Drop - and more questions

OK, I see where you are going and that thread was useful. Funny enough I was planning to build a very similar insulated box and I have some of that foil tape lying around :D Crazy a coke bottle provide such a differential. Thanks for the info regarding commercial fermenters, I figured there...

Cornelius Kegs - which size beer line?

Ah so if your running a Stout, the 3/16 I think is the way to go, you are going to want to run a Stout at a higher pressure this is because c02 makes up a smaller % of the gas you are using and the high pressure will help keep the correct amount of CO2 in solution, oh and you might want to...

Cornelius Kegs - which size beer line?

HI JDR, I started out with 3/8 and I hit issues with foaming, I then moved to a 2m longer line (5m total) and 3/16 and that has worked really well for me. It does take a little longer to pour on 3/16, but I produces (in my experience) better beer. That said my foaming issue may have been...
