    Fermentation Problem

At homebrew volumes, yeast will generate some heat as it ferments, normally only a degree or two. I've never heard of it adding 7°C. Are you sure your thermometer was correct? What sort of thermometer are you using?

Has anyone used WLP720 Sweet Mead instead of Wyeast 3463 Forbidden Fruit?

Thanks, I was doing the research on those strains probably as you were typing your response :-) Will take a look at the 510, might be the way to go!

Has anyone used WLP720 Sweet Mead instead of Wyeast 3463 Forbidden Fruit?

Thanks guys! I will try to get my hands on some FM23. I agree, the WLP720 does sound an odd substitute, but Google shows it as a result when searching for a substitute for WYeast 3463, and hence why I asked the question here. I'm not sure just any witbier yeast will do, as the Forbidden Fruit...

Has anyone used WLP720 Sweet Mead instead of Wyeast 3463 Forbidden Fruit?

Hi all, Where I am, Wyeast 3463 is no longer available for purchase (the importer has stopped carrying it) which is a real pain as I use it in one of my "house" beers. I have read online that White Labs WLP720 Sweet Mead may be a substitute, but has anyone already tried it? I ask as the local...

    1st stout AG grains help

Stout is about the one beer I cannot brew (tried and failed multiple times), so I can't help you there.. However, how big is your kettel? You could do a double mash cycle and run it into the kettel (just keep the first running at 80°C while doing the 2nd mash).. Or go for a thicker mash and...

Where everybody knows your name ...

Greetings 568ml! Welcome! We all start somewhere, with those mystery kits in a can... Brewing Xmas beer now? Your friend seems very wise :D (it tastes better as it ages, IF you can let it to age...) I just brewed a batch of Crimbo beer this past weekend. Along with an APA for gits and...

    APA Recipe - any input

It's actually run out for 50 liters in the kettle, for +/- 45 liters post boil. Tasting the wort from the gravity reading, it's not bad, nicely hopped, not an IPA, but with a good hop flavour. Will post again once it's bottled.

    Bottler Labeller Machine?

Hiya, Anyone know where I can buy a manual or semi-automatic bottle labeller that doesn't cost a fortune ? I've seen some from China on e-bay, but would prefer to support local business. Thanks! Awfers

    clean in place system

As mentioned by zgoda, you need a spray ball (head), looks like this : http://www.tankcleaningtechnologies.co. ... balls.html You'll also need a pump that is up to the job, as well as an outlet at the bottom of the vessel and the CIP ball inlet at the top. This is so you circulate the cleaning...

    150 litre kettle?

Hi All, Anyone know where I can get a good quality 150 litre kettle (with a valve. not the "tank" type, rather the large pot type) that doesn't cost more than my car? Brouwland seems to be the only manufacturer I can find, and they're rather expensive: Thanks, Awfers

Two mashing batches into a single boil ?

Hi All, Was just wondering if it's possible to go through mashing process twice (one right after the other) and putting the wort into a single kettle and then bring it to the boil? I calculate there would be about 1.5 to 2 hours that the wort would sit in the kettle before being brought to...

    A Continental Christmas Ale

Well, one week later and this beer is still fermenting, the airlock producing noise every 20 to 30 secs now. Temp is around 14 to 15C currently, still within range of the yeast. Don't think I have ever seen a fermentation this long for an ale.. With any luck, I can bottle on 01.12....
