    Easy Keg 5L

Yes...........just be careful not to overdo the priming sugar or you will end up with a glass of foam when you try to pour it. I find that 20g of sugar causes a bit of foam with the first pint but then settles down and (provided you don't try to pour more than a glass at a time) gives enough...

    Suma Malt Extract

Hi, I have used this product in the past - when brewing kits. I replaced the sugar with malt extract (adding 10% extra to allow for the water content of the extract) and never had any issues with it. Don't know how it would be if used in larger quantities, but at that price, it's worth...

    Chill Haze

Thanks for that Jon...that's given me a few options to consider. I like the sound of an immersion chiller..........I currently float my brew bucket in a rhino/trug filled with cold water in order to cool it but it takes a couple of hours and three changes of water to get it down to pitching...

    Chill Haze

I can live with not chilling beer at this time of year..............but I find it really needs chilled in summer. Funny thing is I have also done Marzen, Wheat Beer and IPA (all AG) and never had any "chill haze" issues with any of them - only seems to happen with Belgian style beers. (I have...

    Chill Haze

Advice needed..........I have brewed a few AG Belgian style beers which (even if I say so myself) have turned out very nice. They clear well in the bottle and remain clear at room temperature but as soon as I put them in the fridge they turn cloudy. Take them out the fridge and they clear again...

    Easy Keg 5L

Same bungs in Old Speckled Hen kegs............just removed two and it was a nightmare. I find pouring boiling water on the top of the keg till it fills up to the rim and leaving it for a couple of minutes helps by softening the bung a little, but even then it takes considerable brute force to...

    Lagering

Thanks for the replies................I think I'm going to lager it for a couple of months then force carbonate (don't really want to have to use another yeast - especially if it's nice and clear after lagering)

    Lagering

Hi all, I currently have an AG Marzen/Oktoberfest in the FV. My question is......does it need to be lagered before it goes in bottles/keg or can it be primed/bottled/kegged and THEN lagered ? I have the luxury of a beer fridge - so either way it would be stored at around 3 or 4 degrees. Rod

American IPA vs English IPA (whats the difference?)

Hi, I recently did a John Bull IPA kit (£12.50 from Tesco Direct) and dry hopped with some Chinook hop pellets. I was well impressed with the result which resembled American IPA if a little on the dark side.
