    How often do you brew?

I've been brewing at least once a week recently to increase my stocks, to fill the new keezer & three cornys, plus two existing King Kegs. Am now up to three on tap, with one conditioning and two fermenting. At the minute if I see Rexy the Fermentasaurus empty, I'm overcome with an urge to fill...

    BIAB - Chucking hops in?

I bought an edge mounting stainless type hop basket. This seems to do the job, and imparts proper bittering effects into the beer.

    An amateur's keezer

That's a fantastic build, really liking the stainless look 😎

    Keg King's Round Table

Thank goodness for that. I bought a snub nose around the same time from GEB, and it's been an excellent addition to my brewing.

    CO2 Help

A 6.35kg cylinder will give you probably a year's worth of use for force carbonating & dispensing, depending on how much you brew. They stand about 85cm tall, the regulator comes out horizontally, so that's about 34 inches tall in total. I usually force carbonate at 30psi for 12 hours, then drop...

    The Corny has landed

Bought a brand new corny last week & dumped a freshly fermented brew into it for secondary & conditioning. Finished building my keezer, sourced a CO2 bottle & force carbonated it. Started drinking it last Friday and it's been fantastic. Consistent pints with no obvious change in flavour or...

    Leaky barrels

I think you could probably use a corny keg to serve a cask conditioned ale, using a beer engine to extract, and a CO2 source to purge the oxygen & maintain a slight positive pressure for dispensing. The beer engine would actually suck the beer from the corny, with the CO2 source maintaining keg...

King Keg - Leak through pressure valve even though it's new - the valve is new, that is

Pictures I have found online, as attached to my post, show the seal inside the lid with the Hambleton Bard valve. If the seal is outside, the pressure relief collar only seats on a thin part of the seal, with pressure able to escape from inside up past the collar internally. Certainly mine...

    Pressure barrel

@Old Geezer if you mean the pressure gauges, I bought them from an ebay seller - priced up all the components to make them myself, but the price he is asking was only a few quid more than me buying everything individually. Found them very useful indeed...

    Down the rabbit hole

I too started out brewing a few kits, and they were okay, but as you say moving on to AG brewing was an amazing difference. I've been doing BIAB for about eight years now, and my initial setup was a plastic fermenting bucket modified with a kettle element & temperature probe, with a temperature...

    Pressure barrel

Yes, another satisfied King Keg user here - I have two of them. They are just like any piece of pressurised apparatus in any walk of life - maintain the seals regularly & they will be generally fault free. By regularly I mean I have changed mine once since I bought them six years ago, never had...

King Keg - Leak through pressure valve even though it's new - the valve is new, that is

I had a similar thing with a new S30 valve - my old one was leaking as it had sat unused for four years. Bought a new Hambleton Bard valve, and refitted it in the same arrangement as the old valve, with the seal on top of the lid. It held pressure for a few minutes, then leaked down to...

    Snub Nose Fermenter.

Bought my snub nose a few weeks ago, and it's been a fantastic purchase. Fermented an IPA under pressure, then cold crashed & hooked up to a 10psi line & used it for pressure dispensing. Superb piece of kit.

    First Keezer Build

Build completed & first pints poured from the new setup. Very happy!

Where do you store your malt?

I have a sealed air tight metal crate from an old job, in which all the speciality malts are stored. When I stopped brewing for four years, all the grains 'in stock' were left in here in the shed - when I looked at them again back in May, they were still fine & brewed a decent beer. 25kg sacks...

Russell Gas - CO2 supplier in East of Scotland

I'll check the receipt, but I'm sure the guy mentioned a monthly rental.

    Brew shed build

Looking good. I have a humidity sensing extractor fan installed, very useful when setting up the rolling boil. Also painted with kitchen paint to prevent moisture problems.

Russell Gas - CO2 supplier in East of Scotland

For anyone in Edinburgh, Fife or Central Scotland, there is a company called Russell Gas who have depots in Edinburgh, Stirling & Larbert. They stock food grade CO2 in 3kg, 6kg or 24kg sizes. Picked a 6kg one up from Edinburgh at lunchtime today for £47.11 all-in, which included a fill of gas at...

My Logik chest freezer arrived this afternoon... let the build commence!

    tilt vs ispindle vs plaato

I have an ispindel built by a member on here. As Kelper says it's slightly tricky to setup and calibrate, but with a bit of patience it's not a problem. It seems fairly sensitive to wifi location - in my brew shed it sporadically connects, even though the wifi signal there is good for all other...
