    Zlato-Slovenian Golden ale

Aurora to bitter and SG for aroma?

    Stupid question about yeast

Hi guys, I have learned from last week and spent this week building up my yeast from the Hog's Back brewery. The starter is at high Krausen but I just wanted to check: do I pour away all the liquid and just drop in what's at the bottom?

    Zlato-Slovenian Golden ale

I'm going to use the Aurora and Styrian Goldings hops with some pale malt to create a decent golden ale that I'll keep in the bottle until the weather improves. Got a yeast starter from the Hog's Back brewery...roll on Saturday!

    Infection idiocy!

I had the smug 'not lost a batch yet' feeling until this summer. Had a batch of Landlord clone go bad on me through leaving it too long in the FV in fairly warm temperatures and I felt like shedding a tear when I tipped it. Get back on the horse, Louis. Beer making is a noble art and your...

    Lager with hops from Geterbrewed

All very helpful, folks. Thanks. I think I'll probably do a different style of beer this weekend as I don't feel all that confident making a lager. I am worried it'll be too cold with the current cold snap we're having if I keep the beer in the shed to lager it (but, presumably, too hot once the...

    Lager with hops from Geterbrewed

No aquarium pump/heater in the Riley household I'm afraid. How would one make a kolsch beer/hybrid?

    Lager with hops from Geterbrewed

Nice. I'm afraid I don't think I get Saaz/Hallertau in my hop bundle (unless I've just not read it right!) I like the idea of making a 'true' lager but I only have one sachet of Saflager, with which I was planning on making a starter.

    Lager with hops from Geterbrewed

Hi folks, I'm thinking of making this Saturday's brewday a lager (though I've never brewed one from scratch before) and I'd like to use the hops from the Geterbrewed competition. 1) Which hops would suit this and in what quantity? 2) As I have no temp control I would probably put the FV...

    Spring Beer

http://www.themaltmiller.co.uk/index.php?_a=viewProd&productId=387 Here you go. I know you can get it cheaper elsewhere if you DIY but I felt that the Malt Miller do such a good job that I wanted the quality assurance (and, eleven/twelve brews in, it's still going strong.) 33litres allows me...

    Brewery Tours

Not exactly on the way but Wadworth brewery in Devizes is a solid shout. Really good fun and the samples at the end are delicious.

    Spring Beer

I use the big ring and a smaller one to dual heat the boiler. Thirty minutes to get to boil I would say

Thanks Japanbrew. I chickened out and went with trusty S04 but next time!

    Spring Beer

Cooling the wort outside didn't take long today ( I felt like Captain Oates.) My boiler has 33 litre capacity, apparently. My total pre boil was about 27/28 litres today and I have 22litres in the bucket now all is said and done. Hope that helps! For what it's worth I'll be brewing outside in a...

    Spring Beer

Boiling away with no disastrous consequences as yet. Going for a 90 min boil rather than the usual 60 (so my previous hop timings should have said 90.)

    Spring Beer

I'd best get my Ukulele out then, boys! "When I'm brewing bitter!"

Yeah, though I made it in a hurry so it wasn't particularly well measured
