The belgian ale went well, i bottled a couple of weeks ago so should be good this week. i also filled a litre soda stream bottle and carbonated whilst bottling to try, was tasting good.
planning on making another pilsner this week as i have the ingredients and like to condition in the secondary...
Copied a recipe from grainfather site “Scottish golden ale” says camra award winner in fife !)
Came out 1.071 instead of 1.067 so ooh it’s could be strong !!
The Pilsner is good ! You can taste a slightly malty/caramel taste to the Pilsner. It came in around 5.7% abv. I poured to try to make the head small, I used 107g of Demerara sugar to carbonate when bottling.
I’ve always got something on the go !
Imperial stout drinking, Hazy Neipa (with marmelade), too ! And the Pilsner should be good to go.
Next week I’m planning on a brewing a Belgian golden ale.
Hey 👋
After fermentation with mj Californian yeast, I’ve allowed mine to condition in a secondary for 7x weeks before bottling. They’ve always carbonated maybe 3-4 weeks. I’ll add a photo when I’m home next week of the darker Pilsner I’ve made.
Ouch ! Yes my grainfather was a little burnt on bottom but I left overnight to soak overnight and cleaned ok.
latest I added 500g of carabohemian malt, so be interesting how it is. Bottled a couple of weeks ago so be good to try when I’m home next week 😊
Well !
It was likes of brewdog and innes gunn got me into homebrew 😊 but now the beers are tasting a little sub-standard from brewdog, with all the new breweries coming along. There are a lot better beers available. Good of them to publish the diy-dog as others have stated. Using as a reference...
I've not noticed places that people recomend for a beer !
So as a starter i've had a few beers in the Salt Horse in edinburgh, they do burgers and theres around a dozen taps with different breweries beers. Also a bottleshop which also acted as a cafe where you could have a snack and try one of...
I went in at the deep end when I first started a couple of years ago and went for the grainfather. Is an excellent bit of kit and I’ve had no problems. I tend to make 29-30L wort when I brew and heats up pretty quickly to the boil. Bluetooth app works well.
I also have a speidel fermenter which...
I agree with most, I swapped carb drops and started using an online calculator and priming sugar after a couple of brews.
secondly I try to pick a day when the missus isn’t working she does a wonderful job bottle washing whilst I fill 😉
