One-way ticket to Rwanda for some UK asylum seekers

Seems to work in Australia. New Guinea and Noumea are the processing countries for Australia. Seems to have stopped the illegal immigrants there, I doubt anyone would like to end up in Port Morseby. Ranked one of the most dangerous cities in the world. Open up your hearts and homes and give...

    Dry Hopping

Another advocate for loose hops, I don't know if there is any scientific proof about hops being bagged contributing less to the flavour/aroma, just a gut instinct. Hop oils are the ones adding flavour and aroma to the finished beer just somehow feels if the hops are bagged the the release of...

One-way ticket to Rwanda for some UK asylum seekers

I think we should all put our hand up and declare, " We will take them into our homes" I am willing to take a couple, who is with me? Think of the tax payers money we will save than having to transport them back out of the UK.

    SOS to ozzy brewers

They have far to many plastic kegs in the UK it's a pain for those which cant be recycled they end up in landfill. I have seen those with a plastic bag inside but I believe they get recycled as well. https://jollygoodbeer.co.uk/plastic-keg-recycling/

Bevie and Keg King Distributing Partnership.

I got a reply from Keg King this morning, they even mentioned that some UK retailers had been in touch. So it looks like Davegase endeavours have paid off. I would imagine that it would take time to filter through the ranks at Bevie, usually the case in large organisations.

I asked about the twist taps too. Was told they will be in the first shipment.

Bevie and Keg King Distributing Partnership.

Hopefully I will have some more news this coming week. As Mr Dundee says we can't expect merchandise turning up at the Bevie warehouse as soon as an order is placed. Manufacture and shipping time will take a while. Hopefully not too long got my mind set on a couple of Apollos.

    Short boil

Instead of linking yourself I think it would be more advantageous to link the qualified research you mentioned, leaves no room for ambiguity.

    Short boil

I think the first taste of beer is visual, if a beer is bright and attractive then one knows the process has been a success, especially the boil. Boils should be hard to drive off the volatiles between 60 to 90 minutes where a really hard boil will achieve the objectives in 60 mins. Each to...

I believe that Bevie may be retailing as well as wholesale, I would imagine that it would be mail order but maybe they could manage local pickup?

    Brewzilla recirculation arm

There is a reason they are called "cam-locks" they are supposed to lock into position. Wouldn't be good to get sugary hot wort sprayed over you. Make sure you do something about it. Is it under warranty? Who's make is it?

Bevie and Keg King Distributing Partnership.

Woke up to some good news. Asked Keg King to keep me in the loop about the ongoing negotiations with a UK distributor turns out the distributor is Bevie! Good news to me knowing the each Apollo units are individually tested, with kids around gives me some peace of mind.

CO2 purging barrels/cornys. How do you do it?

And the simple way is, as I have been saying, clean and sanitise the keg, let it dry. Hook the keg up to the fermenter and the venting CO2 will get as good if not better than any other method. At the moment I have a plastic bucket with a tap I fill my kegs up through the tap using a hose. Prime...

CO2 purging barrels/cornys. How do you do it?

Well if you are pushing sanitiser out with the gas from the ferment then your ferment is under pressure! The volume of air in a keg is far far less than the volume of CO2 coming from a fermenting vessel. Because there is no pressure the gasses will mix and vent together, I would say, and put...

CO2 purging barrels/cornys. How do you do it?

I am not asking you to change what you are doing. Just pointing out that a far more simple and effective method would be to use the CO2 produced by fermentation of the wort through an empty sanitised vessel. It is more difficult to compress liquid than gas, the O2 in the liquid will be forced...

CO2 purging barrels/cornys. How do you do it?

And you are saying there is no O2 taken up by the liquid?

CO2 purging barrels/cornys. How do you do it?

The bubbles are the foaming agent in the sanitiser. It would be preferable to use a none foaming sanitiser. As I mentioned previously the CO2 from the ferment would do as good a job as any in reducing O2 in a keg to an acceptable level, its free and simple.

CO2 purging barrels/cornys. How do you do it?

For myself what I would do to purge a keg is sanitise first, the Star San will dry leaving an acid film on the keg. Connect the keg to the gas out post of the fermenter so the gas produced by the fermenting wort will purge the keg with the blow off attached to the keg. Not ideal as gasses mix at...

    Safale 04 yeast question

I don't think there is a yeast which flocculates better than SO-4, the reason I asked about temperature is the colder, the more compact the bed. It isn't a characteristic of SO-4 to be easily lifted off the bottom, usually has to be prised off.

Are you bottling at a warmer temperature than the previous batches?
