    Splitting the boil

Yeah it's fine. You can use different hops in each and make two different beers, if you have two FVs.

Weird scrambled egg type clumps in wort...

I've had all sorts of fermentations, that looks fine to me, it's just yeast and break material as far as I know.

Clarityferm is not a yeast, you still need yeast. I've made two beers with it for a coeliac friend, it was very successful. But your friend sounds more sensitive.

Sounds bad. Here are the results of a brewing experiment using clarityferm, which showed only minor traces of gluten in the finished beer... http://beerandwinejournal.com/clarity-ferm-iii/

If you buy Clarityferm, a Whitelabs product, it removes nearly all the gluten during fermentation, making a regular grain beer suitable for all but the most sensitive coeliacs. Online home brew shops sell it, around £2.50 a time, does a five gallon brew.

Northern monk brewery eternal session ipa

Simcoe Mosaic rye will be great. The OG:BU ratio is a better indicator of bitterness.

45 IBUs in a low ABV beer is a lot more bitter than 45 in a higher strength IPA. Centennial, Simcoe, Chinook, three of my favourite hops!

    Both sound great. :thumb:

Hoppy pale I think. With crystal and maybe carapils for body.

I'm going to have a crack at a low alcohol beer, around 3%. I had one in the pub last week that was 3% and it was really nice and it made me want to make one. Less alcohol = drink more beer!

It's not like any other beer is it? I do think its appeal is down to the yeast and roast malt combination, and I should try the same yeast in other dark ales.

Maybe people who do the same can suggest some ideas. A good stir half way through, and at the end, should help.

How much water in the mash, and in the dunk? Do you stir?

    Black Sabbath

Maybe down to lack of sparge and the grain crush?

Ah get ya, didn't realise I missed the efficiency off the recipe - it was 77%.

    Efficiency of.... ?

Things are good, thanks. Shame we lost SteveJ, great banter and so much enthusiasm.

Only if you're passing. I've been out of the game for a while, hoping to brew again soon, later this week maybe.

Yeah, grain keeps well if stored properly. You ok?
