    Slow wort

Leave it alone! It is normal for the froth (krausen) to go down after a few days. It is only usually there for about a day for me. How long has it been fermenting?

    Plastic or glass bottles

@Mastersmithson there are no stupid questions! Transferring from the pressure barrel could lead to oxygenating or infecting your beer. Also if you had carbonated the beer in the barrel you would have to recarbonate. Better to get 30 more bottles.

    Kveik

Thanks @BeerCat and @entertheflagon I have soft Yorkshire water too which seems to be good for the beers I make. Have recently started to add gypsum based on @strange-steve water chemistry thread and what my water report says.

Talk to an idiot about Lagering

@David Heath also recommends lagering at around 5 degrees in his Kolsch video: https://www.thehomebrewforum.co.uk/threads/kölsch-video-guide.83197/#post-839195

    Kveik

Much appreciated @entertheflagon I saw somewhere that it is recommended that yeast nutrient should be used with kveik. Is general nutrient usually listed as for wine ok or is something like Diammonium Phosphate that says it is for beer better? Or are they the same thing?

    Kveik

I’ve just read all 43 pages of this thread, seems to be a lot of love for kveik. Interesting stuff and I’m keen to give it a go. Does anyone have any spare they’d be happy to send me? Obviously I’m happy to pay p&p.

    Costa Coffee.

I guess that some franchise owners will be better than others. A contract that badly written shouldn’t even be enforceable though just on the grounds of bad grammar and punctuation!

Malt Miller Sale on Fermentum Mobile Yeasts

Thanks for the heads up MyQul. I was looking to buy some liquid yeast for the first time for a wheat beer I’m planning to do so perfect timing.

    What did you brew today?

Just waiting for a pale ale to cool to pitching temp. Used Admiral for bittering to about 60 IBUs, then Styrian Wolf and a touch of Cascade at flame out. Fermenting with Crossmyloof Pia yeast. Will be dry hopping with more of the Styrian Wolf hops.

    Is my Beer brewing?

9 times out of 10 the krausen only lasts a day or two on my beers but the yeast is still doing its job. What temp is it at? Try to avoid stirring as that will increase the risk of nasties getting in the fv when you open it up.

Some bargain pubs for sale in Kent

The top one is saying it is no longer available. Has any one from here gone in with a cheeky offer? :?:

    Sampling from FV

Another +1 for the turkey baster (not turkey blaster as autocorrect wanted me to say!)

    New crossmyloof 'Haze' yeast.

I’ve got both of those waiting to be used. I’ll try to remember to post a review, although I’m just starting to experiment with water chemistry and different hopping rates, so won’t be sure if I’ll be able to tell whether any differences in taste, aroma etc are due to the yeast alone. I guess...

Mangrove Jacks American IPA or Muntons Craft hand crafted American IPA?

You could always brew it long using more water. Lower ABV and more beer!

    Need convincing

Yep, I meant to say that first bit too!

    Need convincing

Any reason why you are thinking about the robobrew specifically? I’ve only seen it on amazon.com for $479 so it is quite a big investment. I started with kits but then moved onto using a big pan to do 10 litre brews on the cooker before buying an Ace mash tun / boiler for about £100 to make 20...

    Sheffield Home Brew Club

Oh right, that’s a shame. Is that a recent change? Just noticed on their website that there is new management.

Have you thought about the Sentinel Brewery? Been on the brewery tour and they were friendly chaps. Fairly close to the station and there is a meeting room too if they wanted us out of the way! If we’re lucky we might get some freebies like yeast. athumb..

    Good lager in the UK

Not sure how it compares to true Bavarian beer but Thornbridge Lukas Helles is pretty good on draft if you can get it.
