    Corny lids

Some of my lids drop a little when i purge. As long as it seals properly when its pressurised it will be fine.

    Sediment in corny

It will probably take a week to settle again. I never move any light coloured beers until they are drunk as i hate the slightest bit of haze. If you really have to move it you would be better of weighing it than swirling it around.

    Rubbish tube heaters!

I had one in the garage that broke and i had lost the receipt so couldn't get a refund. They don't seem to be very reliable. With my heat mat and an stc as soon as it drops 0.3c it kicks back on and the fridge never needs to be used. Extends the life of the fridge, saves energy and does not...

Stout tap and mixed (pub gas)- worth it?

Basically instead of boiling you pastereurise the wort during mashout .Have a look at this, explains the method really well

Stout tap and mixed (pub gas)- worth it?

If you want more mouthfeel in a stout don't boil it. Saying that though i really want a nitrogen setup too.

    Rubbish tube heaters!

I use the 14w version and that keeps 28l at 20c easily. Cant understand why people use tube heaters.

    Camden Hells Recipe

Carapils seems to be a contentious subject. Brulosophy have done an exbeeriment with it for what its worth.

    Camden Hells Recipe

Recipe looks solid for a lager although most helles recipes don't have a flameout addition that i have come across. You might extract unwanted bitterness with those hops unless you you chill the wort enough before the hopstand. Even 77c can pull some out. Generally I go for something lower AA...

My energy bill goes up 10% end of the month so I guess I will be paying for it whether I want one or not.

no boil no chill 1 week wheat beer

I would not add it to secondary. Add it to the wort before fermentation and take another reading. 100g in 1l of water gives approximately 40 gravity points, If your making raw beer you cant boil in any case. I would recommend getting a refractometer so you can check your gravity points as your...

What Do you Think of My Stout Recipe

If you roast the nibs it will bring out more chocolate flavour. I buy the nibs raw and put them in the over at 100c for 15m turning often. Crushing them would improve extraction but i have never bothered. I use about 150g in 25l. 15% is a lot if your going to boil it. Depends what your after, i...

    First Wort Hops

I do FWH with all my boiled beers. If you have to boil longer it does not make much difference to the IBU either.
