    Adding flavouring to corny keg

I would leave the vanilla pieces out. Surely the point of steeping them in bourbon was to extract the vanilla flavours anyway.

    Easy Keg 5L

I've never done it but I don't see why not. I don't use my easy kegs now since moving to corny kegs but kept them with a view to doing just this so would be interested in how you get on. Be aware though the kegs won't stand too high a pressure, great for English beers not so good for lagers...

    Czech Pils in the UK

It's wlp800 which is the whitelabs equivalent of wyeast 2001. It's my first time using it, but from reading up it's supposed to be one of the yeasts that do well at higher fermentation temperatures although I'm going to play it safe initially and stick within the recommended temperatures. (Might...

    Czech Pils in the UK

After you posted this I did some research and found a few more recommendations for a higher mash temperature. Mash is on now at 68 rather than the 65 in g Hughes book.

    What did you brew today?

I like to brew early too and also get moaned at by the kids. But it's just to get it out the way, honest.

    Markings for no chill cube?

Thanks @Bigcol49 perfectly safe might be a bit of an exaggeration when I'm brewing, but at least I know the plastic is ok.

    Markings for no chill cube?

I've just picked up some reverse osmosis water from an aquarium place near me. Will the container it came in double up as a no chill cube? Triangle recycling mark on bottom of the container has "02" I'm it.

    Brut IPA surprise

Actually, they are probably more similar than I first thought, main difference being in the types of hops used and the blonde ale being quite a lot lower og.

    Brut IPA surprise

Splash it all over.athumb..wink... Think I'm going to have to try making a brut IPA , something a bit different. I'm guessing there arnt yet any commercial varieties widely available in the UK for sampling unless anyone knows different? I like the look of the beer @MyQul linked too also but...

2018 Beer World Cup - Quarter Final No 4

Tricky one for me this as if I was out in a pub serving landlord on Draught that's what I'd be drinking but buying a bottle to drink at home would be the Pilsner Urquell. I went with the Urquell, first time voting against Timmy

    Carbing Corny Kegs

Those check valves look good. Maybe it's because I don't like my beer too carbonated but I'm quite happy giving an initial burst at 30 psi whilst rolling the keg for a few minutes, then after that I might do again the next day or so without the rolling, then top up the gas as and when I feel it...

    James Morton - Brew

Most of his recipes are too strong and extravagant on the hops for my tastes, but it's still a good read he writes about beer very enthusiastically. I've done a few of recipes which have all been good. I recommend it

SS brewbucket owners question : Tubing

Don't know, you said yours keeps stalling. Is it getting kinked or is yeast / hops causing a blockage?

    Czech Pils in the UK

That's the one but thought I would up the ibu to about 30 rather than the 25 in the recipe. What mash temperature do you recommend? Think the recipe states 65c. I'm using the Urquell yeast. (Wlp800)

SS brewbucket owners question : Tubing

I use the tube from a Wilco's Syphon kit. Nice push fit on the tap and less soft than silicon tube.

    Czech Pils in the UK

Just checked the bottle of Urquell I have and it states brewed and bottled in Plzen. So it is the genuine article. I wonder if the difference is that it has been pasteurised and what you get from a bar in Prague probably hasn't.

    Czech Pils in the UK

I've got a Czech pils planned to brew on Friday. Yesterday I did a side by side comparison of UK versions of Staropraman and urquell as my son is a fan of Staropraman and Urquell has been doing well in the world cup. wanting to see if I can get something close enough but not worried about an...

    Derogatory term

I've never heard that term before either so just looked it up "A derogatory term used by the French for Englishmen, probably because of the enjoyment and pride the English take in their roast beef." Bloomin Frogs
