I have a stout that's down from 1.047 to 1.008 is around 3 days...!!! I was going to add the Bourbon and vanilla after about a week in the FV, however The vanilla has been steeping in the Bourbon for about a week. I don't want to leave it sitting around so I'm dropping into a corny keg to condition for a few weeks. Is it safe to dump the vanilla pieces in the corny, or will they potentially block up the outlet?

Thanks

I would leave the vanilla pieces out. Surely the point of steeping them in bourbon was to extract the vanilla flavours anyway.

I've never soaked in spirits , just thrown the chopped up pods in. Convinced they dissolve and when I cleared the keg last time there was nothing but some yeasty dregs.

Thanks for the tips, I opted to strain the chopped pods out, just in case some particles got stuck in the the draw off tube. So I now have 19 ltrs of Stout with 20g Coffee beans in the boil, 150 mls of Bourbon, 1 vanilla pod and 250g of lactose. Not a scooby how this will turn out, but looking forward to finding out.

Cheers
