Ok I not meaning to be sexist in any way, this is just an observation from a very small sample group. The Brut IPA I recently brewed has proved to be very popular with females for some unknown reason. Granted only a sample of 4 but they all seem to love it. I find this surprising because I find it to be completely unlike their usual tipple. My wife for example, if she does drink beer will usually go for Corona or Miller, until now has showed no real interest in any of my homebrew but I now find myself under instruction to" brew that Brut one again." My sister in law also a miller/Coors light drinker can't get enough of it. Even my mother likes it and she doesn't drink beer! Any one else come across something similar?

Interesting thoughts, but apart from being dry and fizzy it's definitely a beer and not at all wine tasting. Hops in mine are citra and mosaic, so it has a citric taste and at 6.7% is a lot stronger than other beers they drink.

Theres's a blonde ale recipe over on HBT that uses amylse enzyme that Ive been eyeing up for ever but have never got around to making it. I even bought the enzyme. Mrs MQ will occasionally have one of my HBs if shes ran out of wine or those pre-mixed G&T cans. I might make the blonde ale for her to see if she likes it

Mine was 84% Pilsner, 8% each of Maize and rice. Hopped and dry hopped with citra and mosaic (22 IBU) and yeast was US-05. 15ml of amalyaze in the fermenter. O.G. was 1.050, F.G. 0.998. It has certainly made a nice beer. I also added the zest of 2 oranges at 3 mins in the boil.

Splash it all over.athumb..wink...

Think I'm going to have to try making a brut IPA , something a bit different. I'm guessing there arnt yet any commercial varieties widely available in the UK for sampling unless anyone knows different?
I like the look of the beer @MyQul linked too also but think that will be a lot more like a faux lager than a brut ipa.

Actually, they are probably more similar than I first thought, main difference being in the types of hops used and the blonde ale being quite a lot lower og.

My recipe is based strongly on David Heaths. I scaled it up to 23L and added citra and some orange zest as I had a bizarre Bucks fizz Brut in mind.

Yes a pseudo lager. Its supposed to be like a flavourful miller lite
