    Any bikers on here?

What do you ride? I previously had a Firestorm but sold it and bought and XLV. I'm thinking about putting the thermals back in my kit for my trip back to Wales (from Portsmouth) on Friday. I can't wait for the rain! James

1st attempt at a recipe (Christmas beer!)

I've ordered the ingredients as curiosity has got the better of me. I hope it turns out alright! :D James PS I've upped the Carared to 540g as it's not an ingredient I've come across in beer before so I'm interested in it's effect.

1st attempt at a recipe (Christmas beer!)

I was thinking about Fuggles but I didn't know how they would work with Cascade and using only one type of hop would allow me to spot the differences between them. It has certainly been noted though. :) James

1st attempt at a recipe (Christmas beer!)

Hello all, I've done a small number of AG brews so far and I'd really like to start to produce my own beers and not rely on others for recipes. I've just knocked the following recipe up for a Christmassy beer. Ideally I'd like something with Christmas spice (not to over powering), malty and a...

    My New Toy :D

I've been out the garage this evening fitting the alarm (again as I wasn't completely happy the first time) and a *** lighter charging point. What absolute aresache the latter turned out to be. The whole fecking front had to come away so I could get the tank off, balls to that think I; I just...

    My New Toy :D

I've got the FI version which is meant to be a fair bit more economic. I took it for a ride through Brecon this morning and gave it hell, to be fair it did produce some bloody good (to me after owning a Firestorm anyway) economy figures; 50mpg on average! I'm really pleased with it! :D As for...

    My New Toy :D

I picked this up tonight. I've long been fancying something more touring oriented as I find the VTR causes me to ache like hell after about 40 miles. After having the VTR MOT'd last week the Varadero caught my eye. It's in very good condition, has 12k on the clock but was cat d'd after the...

How long can beer remain on the yeast?

Hmm it's the risk of infection that is bothering me the most at the moment. Knowing how experienced you are at AG brewing (and obviously extremely clean) it's bothering me even more so. I'm torn between throwing caution (and money!) to the wind and hoping for the best or sitting down and...

How long can beer remain on the yeast?

That's a really good point. Are bottles completely air tight? Would I still be able to prime the beer in the bottles after leaving the beer a few weeks? I have a wine fermenter at my disposal so I'll give it a go with a cheap brew. Maybe an inexpensive stout or similar. Would Vaseline around...

How long can beer remain on the yeast?

It's looking more like brewing is going to be put on the back burner for a while until I get my own place if that is the case as I can't guarantee that I'll be home. :( James

How long can beer remain on the yeast?

Hello all, I have a bit of a dilemma. I've recently moved from my home in Wales to live with my uncle in Fareham until I find a place of my own; the reason being is that I've just started work in Havant. I'd like to carry on brewing but I can't see him being impressed with bottles and equipment...

    geocaching treasure hunting

I've been at it for a few months. I have my own cache in the Elan Valley that's proving to be rather popular. It's great fun for people of all ages. I usually take the missus or go hunting when I'm mountain biking. James

The Hot Break no break brew day

Inspirational! I start work on Monday full time after 5 years in uni, I know what my first pay packet will be going towards. 15 Gallons of AG home brew ready for Christmas (I may have to move if I get a 2:1 in my degree as I've been offered a career in Fareham, ~150 miles from home so I'm...

Facebookonomics - what are you worth?

The clever thing about Facebook is it's an elaborate for of word of mouth advertising. Basically your friends 'like' something and then you automatically find out about. Much the same as you would if your friends / relatives introduced you to something in the real world. Facebook doesn't need to...
