I picked this up tonight. I've long been fancying something more touring oriented as I find the VTR causes me to ache like hell after about 40 miles. After having the VTR MOT'd last week the Varadero caught my eye.

It's in very good condition, has 12k on the clock but was cat d'd after the previous owners wife shunted it. The cracked front fairing has been replaced so there are only scratches on the bar end. Anyway I paid 3K for it, it's an '07 plate so 'm happy with that.

First observations from riding is that it's extremely comfortable, needs more noise and moar carbs (it's FI :( ). So on the shopping list are some new cans for it and I've bought an alarm (Cyclone V2) to fit tonight. Oh and it came with the fully pannier kit too.

Nice deal! Especially with the hard luggage. It's a very competent bike - mate of mine had one and used it in the desserts around Dubai.
They are known to be a tad thirsty though...

Well done...right place right time...but why have you fallen over in the first photo??? did you faint from looking at the bike?? or had you been on the homebrew??

I've got the FI version which is meant to be a fair bit more economic. I took it for a ride through Brecon this morning and gave it hell, to be fair it did produce some bloody good (to me after owning a Firestorm anyway) economy figures; 50mpg on average!

I'm really pleased with it! :D

As for falling over, I wish I'd been on the home brew; I had to suffer public transport to get home to Wales to pick it up. Screaming kids on a train from Fareham to Cardiff is not my idea of fun! :x

Sounds great

Took my ZZR for a long trip last week - up to Lochinver up in the far north west of Scotland, break for two days fishing, then back down. Did 570 odd miles on some awesome roads

Lucky bugger...can't wait to get mine back on the road... :thumb:

I've been out the garage this evening fitting the alarm (again as I wasn't completely happy the first time) and a *** lighter charging point. What absolute aresache the latter turned out to be. The whole fecking front had to come away so I could get the tank off, balls to that think I; I just lifted the tank a little and routed the wiring around it. However, I didn't have as much wiring with the *** light as I thought so I've secured it to a clip that the previous owner had left. It's only a plastic clip jobby so I'm not 100% convinced by its holding power so one night in the week I'm going to try and find a more permanent fix for it.
