    Coopers original stout. I added 1kg of ritchies beer kit enhancer + 500gms medium DME. Came out about 5%. It was a bit sweet at first, but after 6-7 weeks in bottle, the roast flavours are coming through

    Novice Advice

    I used frozen, rinsed in a campden solution, rinsed in water then sprayed with starsan. The fruit fizzled over the week, but the gravity didn't change. The colour drained from the fruit into the beer.

    Sometimes at bottling, i put some fruit into a demijon and rack a gallon of the beer in, and leave it to soak for a week. Then bottle as usual. That lets me keep the rest of the batch as regular beer. It has worked well with raspberries or strawberries in a pale. I do the same with a vanilla...

    Thanks Terry, I can get golden syrup on my next asda run. If I brew the 1.8kg kit to 20L, with the grains steep and 150g of muscavado. Would you use 500g or 750g of syrup? I tend to go for 4-4.5% usually. Ta

    May is Mild month

    I made this at beginning of March. 11 litre batch 1kg Dark DME 150 gms golden syrup 30 gms fuggles boil for 30 minutes 20 gms fuggles steep for 30 minutes CML Beoir yeast OG 1040 FG 1010 About 4% First bottle was horrifically sweet, but now it's a nice drinking ruby mild.

    Kit v All Grain Costs

    I went the other way... all grain biab steadily got worse and ended always with a twang . So I moved on to kits, ritchies and coopers, no twang.
