    Newbe me

    Welcome 🙂

Apple juice from concentrate is what most people use so don't worry. I tried using the fresh stuff years ago and couldn't really say that it was much different from memory.

How to be happy in 2021 (despite everything)

The place where I work now is more like that too. My boss is of a similar mindset to me and he agrees if it's not done, then it's not done.

How to be happy in 2021 (despite everything)

    4. I have typically had this opinion at work for a long time now. Some will sweat, work long hours unpaid, do unpaid weekends etc.to make sure a job gets delivered on time. Don't get me wrong, I put the effort in at work and always do a few hours unpaid overtime every week, but learned many...

Lower value imported goods now 20% more expensive (including Aliexpress) - an early bite of Brexit

I must be missing something about this. I was trying to find out the other day but drew a blank. I can't get my head around this in such that how can HMRC have any jurisdiction over companies abroad and what they may sell to UK customers and force them to collect VAT on their behalf? In any...

I'd suggest having a go with apple juice (typically referred to as turbo cider). I tend to get mine from Lidl for no other reason that it comes in 1.5L cartons, which are usually about 85p a go, and so 3 will fill a demijohn nicely with a bit spare. Oh, plus Lidl is closest to me. I haven't...

Dry Friers - are they any good?

We have seen the adverts and thought that they look good but don't know anyone who has one. I could be tempted.

    Power cut

I remember the electric going off quite frequently when I was growing up. We always had a bag of candles in the cupboard to light up. I can't remember the last time it went off by me.

    Primeing problems,

Temperature is the likely one, as the guys above have said. You haven't just had a load of sugar at the bottom of the bottles have you? I always give mine a bit of a gentle couple of shakes when after the caps go on to dissolve most of the sugar.

The EU and UK have reached a post-Brexit trade deal

I'll have to look into it then. I used France just as an example but that is is hopefully how it works everywhere. I know quite a few people at work and other places where they are 'split' nationality wise so I'll see what they have looked into.

The EU and UK have reached a post-Brexit trade deal

One thing that I have never seen mentioned in the whole Brexit debate and chat is those families that are made up of a Brit and another EU national, married or not or with kids etc. Ireland and UK agreements aside, all of a sudden those families are now constrained to either live in the UK or...

    Personal greetings cards.

I'm not a fan of sending cards full stop but you find yourself in the trap of they send us one so we need to send on back. I'm even less of a fan of sending in gifts and the like to the kids school teachers. The missus knows the answer I'll give if she mentions the idea, so she doesn't bother...

    Apple and Mango turbo cider.

I checked on it earlier and it's come to life although not as much activity as usual.

    You couldn't make it up.

I think I'll stick to getting my meat from the supermarket 😁

    Apple and Mango turbo cider.

Strange this is. I've done loads of TCs in the past but the one I put on Sunday with Lidl AJ is sat doing not a lot. The krausen is formed at the top of the JD but no activity. I'll leave it for a couple of days and see what's going on.

    Christmas Songs. (You like)

I quite like the old Christmas songs to get I to the spirit of it all. What gets me though is they start getting played early November, but come Boxing Day they are finished.

How many mince pies and Christmas puddings have you eaten so far this December

I need to get myself to Aldi by the sounds of it.

Who has a freezer big enough to stick a couple of pigs in? They are not exactly small even when butchered. My freezer is rammed full just buying a few things from Asda.

The beer, wine and cider snack thread.

I tried the chickpeas tonight, going with the paprika and garlic idea, but I under did the seasoning so were a bit bland. Onwards and upwards though and I'll smother the next batch🙂
