    Sodastream Regulator

I got a standard ODL regulator from Brewkegtap (Johnny) on eBay. He supplied it with an adaptor so that I could use Sodastream as well as full size pub CO2 bottles. Great service and good price too.

    What did you brew today?

12L of the Camden Town India Helles Lager clone from the Brew book by Euan Ferguson. Sort of... First attempt at a lager as I haven't wanted it taking up months in the brew fridge. So I'm going to attempt the Brulosophy quick lagering method. It's an expensive recipe though, so I hope it works...

    Opening to soon?

As has been said above, I think you are at risk of exploding glass bottles . My cider usually finishes at a gravity of 1.000. 1.028 is very high meaning there is a great deal of sugar left in solution. The yeast is still consuming these remaining sugars and creating CO2 in volumes far greater...

    Carbonating

The theory goes that you need a little less sugar because you have less total headspace than when using 40 or so bottles. However, I'm usually a little short of a full 19L keg because I tend to brew around 14 - 15L. I just use the same amount of sugar as when bottling. If you over carbonate a...

Switching from bottles to kegs - Advice please

That's great value. Cheapest I can find in York area is £55 fully refundable deposit on the bottle and £14 +VAT for a 3kg fill. Still I'm happy enough with £17 a fill for 10 to 12 cornies. Will last me a year at least .

    New to homebrewing

Hi and welcome to the forum! There is a Gamma ray recipe in the Brewdog Craft Beer for the People book which is where I got it from. It's next up on my brew schedule. My top tip to making better beer would be to get fermentation temperature control as soon as you can. Temperature fluctuations...

Switching from bottles to kegs - Advice please

That's an interesting question! So far I have emptied two Sodastream bottles and not managed to fully dispense one keg... That's £40 of CO2!! However, this is down to my failings and getting used to the sytem. The first tank I overtightened the adaptor and split the rubber sealing ring. The...

Switching from bottles to kegs - Advice please

I got set up with a reconditioned corny keg, standard regulator (so I can upgrade to pub size CO2 bottle later) with an adaptor for Sodastream bottles, beer line, picnic tap, gas line and disconnects for £129 from Brewkegtap. If you went for an un reconditioned keg from Home Brew Company you...

    Corny keg Cask...

I've seen someone do it (possibly on here) with a gas disconnect that has cotton wool stuffed in the end to form a breather, them the pump is connected up to the beer out post...

    Have we wrecked this beer?

Sounds perfectly fine to me. It should turn out to be a great beer (everything I've attempted from that book has been). Relax, go with the flow and enjoy your brewing :) As has been said above, leave it two weeks from pitching then take a hydrometer reading to see where you are. My airlock...

Some people have mixed feelings about this

Released on their behalf in error... Well if that's the case, they might regret outsourcing that particular task.
