    youngs preesure keg woes

Got my first keg a few weeks ago and all was fine I noticed my beer had lost some fizz after a 10 pints or so one night so got out the super 30 co2 canister. Gave it a blast and removed it, the top valve started hissing at me, I assumed I'd put to much pressure in and this was the valve...

Hi guys, looking for some help regarding a college project. Please could you answer the question posted. I am wondering how much per year you spend on all facets of homebrew production? This can include but not limited to equipment purchases, ingredients, sterilisers, bottles, caps etc etc...

    3 months late

Hi guys, please don't chastise me as it wasn't totally my fault. I had a chance at a short term transfer from one work location to a far more glamorous one. The problem is that it has meant I never managed to bottle a kit brew which has been sitting in its FV since December. Seeing as its...

    Brew belt to hot!!

Our home isn't the warmest but in this mild snap the air temp around the boiler (under the stairs along with my FV) is about 17, I got the belt expecting a cold snap (here in Highlands) which hasn't materialised. When we are out and the heating is off the house has been as cold as 10 so I...

    Brew belt to hot!!

Just bought a brew belt and made up a kit of youngs bitter. Its been foaming away and I've been worrying it was to hot. Right enough, I sanitised a thermometer and the brew was at 27 degrees. So i switched off the belt. Having read posts here about belts I know to high can cause problems...

Age in Demi john or Bottle

Hi guys, recently tried Youngs cab sav six bottle extract kit after seeing it in the clearance aisle at tesco. It has finished fermenting and I've added the stabiliser and finings and transfered it into a fresh demijohn to clear. Is it better to leave it in this demijohn to age or should I...

    Engineers

Cheers guys. I'm very new to homebrewing having been given a kit for my birthday from SWMBO in August The course I'm on is basically an access course to a degree. Its called an HNC up here so it isn't going to be anything to complex. The course is called engineering systems and isn't specific...

Ginger Ninja - powerful ginger beer

The other ginger beer recipes I seem to come across all mention finishing up quite dry. What is it about this recipe that will keep some sweetness? Very keen to find a gingerbeer recipe but would prefer one with some sweetness.

    Pre bottling shopping

Got hold of a secondary vessel and added a tap to it to make bottling easier. Gonna batch prime it with 150g of granulated sugar. Been steralising all day and made a drying rack from some timber slabs I had lying around. Going to get some football or golf on the tv later and get the stuff...

    Should finings smell this bad

Just making my first batch and was about to add finings when I made up the powder and cold water mix the sour chemically smell coming of it was off putting. Is this normal? Makes me worried about tossing it in with my batch.
