    Pump for Klarstein/Hopcat/Ace/etc

These are similar to build of aquarium pumps and I have few of those. If it doesn't pump water and impeller is not turning, it is usually something that causing impeller to be stuck. Switch pump off, take the top of and try turning impeller by hand. If you can't you need to find a reason for it...

    Brewzilla

When you set for boiling, I usually put temp around 103. Mine is quite accurate, but when I leave it at 100 the boil starts and stops - when it gets to the boiling point I only run it on 1500W element and switch 500W off. All together brilliant system and Paul from AHB is absolutely fantastic...

    Coffee

Dave, if you like stronger ones, try coffees from Indonesia, like Toraja. My wife like a proper coffee kick in the morning and she loves this one. We had some first in Bali and we love the rich flavour and how strong it was . Only problem is that Hasbean doesn't have it often in stock

Berkow Throws in his Lot with Labour, inerestinger and interestinger- as Alice might have put it!

Current Conservative party took very right wing turn. I am labour supporter, but I wouldn't mind now a moderate tory government. What we really need is a proportional representation - much more democratic what we have now - always 2 party system. At least with PR much more people would be...

    Elections.

Lots of discussions here it posing to extreme ends of political direction. Capitalism vs socialism. None of them exist anywhere as pure form. Usually there is mix of both, the leaning to one side just changes. I would like to see big state - like they are now introducing in The US. Don't like...

Best way to get a label off a bottle

Paper labels usually come of in hot water, everything else either isopropyl alcohol or nail varnish remover (with acetone) as this will remove and dissolve the glue. Ever so often I come across a label that nothing will fully remove the glue.

The difference between live and dry yeast.

I know closely 2 micro brewery and they use dried yeast for years, producing very good beers. I have been to visit many times to Harvey Brewery in Lewes (e. sussex) and they use own strain fresh yeast for something like 100 years and they do produce some great beers. From my own experience...

As always, I recommend giving a call to your local micro brewery - they might sell you a 25kg for a good price.

    Nicola Sturgeon has been cleared

This should bring calls for Priti Patel to resign as the independent inquiry DID found that she broke ministerial code - I highly doubt it will happen. Sturgeon will go back to preparing to next election, I think she will win big. I would prefer for Scotland not to leave, but if this is a...

    Censorship

The bill they are protesting about is full of stupid things - like right to protest and possibly higher sentences for damaging a statue - up to 10 years. Most sentences for **** are around 5 years and lots of woman wanted sentences to go higher and to be included in the bill. A twitter post I...

    taps for a keezer setup

When it comes to Intertap you know you are getting tested and good quality products. With the Chinese ones (eBay) you never know. I bought so far 2 from BrewkegTap, both fully complete with shanks. It will server you well for years.

    RO water

I think that RO is clean as it is, no other particles in it apart from h2o, but in that form apparently is not good for consumption - as drinking just that. In the brewing process lots of other things will be added making it safer for consumption as beer. Only think with spotless water I would...

    One Percent

And look what happen, we are arguing who should get a pay rise and who shouldn't, who work harder etc. I wonder if that was the entire goal, make people turn on each other but not on this corrupted government. Of course I could turn and said school support staff workers are not paid enough etc...

    RO Filters

Another place to buy RO water, check location near you: Spotless Water Locations I have a marine aquarium, so use RO water mainly for that. I only use RO for German style lagers, for English styles I use tap water - sometimes 50:50 with RO for pale and hoppy beers. RO filter do waste lots of...

Kveik - worth the hype? Best beer style? Best fermenting temp?

It makes great yeast for the hot summer and does it quick. I have tried voss at 35 degrees and beer was finished in 3 days and matured quickly as well. It is good for this kind of job. But as I guess we mostly brew in room temps, it doesn't give any advantage to usual types we use.
