Putting temperature probe in a thermowell

I have the same thermowell. I just put the inkbird probe in as far as possible. I don't seal it in or anything. I have the heating and cooling difference set 0.5 c either side of my set point. My fermentation fridge maintains temperature well within +/- 1c of my set value

    CO2 in Southampton area

Not sure where to put this but found my Co2 cylinder was empty on Tuesday. Phoned T@J Wednesday and full cylinder delivered two days later. Awesome service.

The 'Recommend me a TV series' thread

Just finishing the last few episodes. Finding it really hard to space them out and not binge watch the lot.

Boel Itap versus Blichmann Beer Gun v2.0

3/16. If memory serves right I switched the barb out for a John Guest fitting that screws direct onto the iTap shank and then put a reducer on to step from 3/8 to 3/16

Boel Itap versus Blichmann Beer Gun v2.0

I can only comment on iTap. Piece of cake to set up and works straight out the box with no foaming. It's worth watching the you tube videos on it to get yourself familiar with it

    SouthDowns Brews

The Sky's Gone Out - Cascadian Dark Ale/Black IPA Finally dragged myself out of the "can't be arsed" fug I was in. Needless to say the Sabro Golden Ale didn't materialise. So, I decided to take a trip down controversial street and brew a Black IPA. I really struggled to find good points of...

American Amber Ale taste notes Not doing a great job of keeping up with this log. The American Amber has been in the keg and drinking for a couple of weeks now. Taste notes:- Aroma - Pleasant pronounced citrus aroma akin to a pale ale. More hop forward than malt forward but in balance. No...

    England 0 - 4 Hungary

Semi finals of the last world cup, finals of the Euros - why would you get rid of one of our most successful managers? Sure we have had a bad nations league but this has been used to experiment with new players - sadly, that hasn't worked and the players brought in haven't been able to make...

    All Grain Equipment Set-Up

I have a propane heated 3V system and a Brewzilla. My thoughts in no particular order are. -The Brewzilla is quicker to set up and to clean which shortens the brewday. -The 3V system takes up more space but you could start with 2V and use the same vessel as your HLT and kettle. I did this for...

    SouthDowns Brews

I am really pleased with how it turned out. The taste was how imagined it when I designed the recipe. Interestingly, I didn't pick up on the hint of diacetyl. next time I brew it I might need to adjust my d rest slightly.

    SouthDowns Brews

Tasting notes for the Saazzy ****** Czech Pilsner. These are the opinions of another brewer, but they are in line broadly with mine. Aroma (12) Rich sweet grainy malt, maybe a touch of diacetyl. Clean lager yeast with no unwanted fruity esters. Restrained herbal / floral hop aroma. 8...

    SouthDowns Brews

Right. Today I kegged the American Amber Ale. Tasted the dregs out of the FV and first impressions are that while the malt backbone is what I was aiming for, the hops may be a little restrained. Tis too early to tell for sure.

May 22 Competition - American Pale Ales

Ok. That timing works for me. Due to half term holidays I am not going to be able to post mine out until the 6th. Unless I teach my wife how to bottle beer from my keg using the iTap 🤔

League one and two football thread

Ooooff. That was tough to take Thursday. Well done Sunderland. Good luck to Mansfield in the L2 play off final. Sadly the actions of a number of Port Vale fans have tarnished my view on them as a club.

    SouthDowns Brews

Thanks @Hazelwood Brewery, that is a really good point on the dry hopping affecting the FG and body. I will definitely brew this again (or at least a variant of it) because its the closest I've come to a NEIPA that maintains flavour and appearance over the life of the keg. I will have a play...

    SouthDowns Brews

Trying to catch up on this - I hadn't realised I have done no tasting notes for the Pilsner or the user-upper bitter I brewed. That will have to wait for another day. American Amber brew day (01 May 2022) For my next brew, I wanted to start to broaden my brew styles out happened upon the...

League one and two football thread

Amazing day in League 2 yesterday. FGR snatched the league title after Exeter lost at home. Somehow the Gas ended up third after putting 7 past Scunthorpe and overturning the goal difference to Northampton. Play offs for them, Mansfield, Port Vale and us. We won our 4th game on the spin 3-0 at...

May 22 Competition - American Pale Ales

Um. I have an American Amber with Cascade and Centennial in the FV. Can I submit that. It's not strictly an American Pale?
