To prime or not to prime; that is the question........

...... but it wouldn't half be fizzy  For your first session of priming bottles why not do some @ 5g/l and a few @ 3g/l and compare them, easy enough to mark the bottle caps, then you can see which you prefer

    Moto gp

Steep learning curve for the other young rookie from GB, Bradley Smith, he'll get there, hopefully :!: As for Rossi, back on the Yamaha and making it sing, was a great start to the season :thumb:

    Leaky Tap

What I forgot to say was when I pinched the tap as described, there was a definate click, so something hadn't been seated properly :!:

To prime or not to prime; that is the question........

I'm prime at low rates, batch priming as little as 40g (and never been more than 90g) for 23 ltr and there's still a 'smoking gun' and a hiss as the bottles are opened, the beer itself has a head but not much 'fizz'

Can you buy beer as good as your homebrew?

There certainly are beers out there as good as we brew ourselves, but one thing they can't compete on.... price :!: As PD says above, if you brew the beers that you like/in the style you like they can't get near us on cost :thumb:

    Leaky Tap

another possibility is that the 'tap' might not be quite seated right  when the tap is in the 'off' position ie @ 90 degrees just try a gentle press on the top of the tap whilst holding the bottom of the tap, or if you can, try and pinch the tap between your finger and thumb and...

    RIP Margaret!

Totally correct, many of those 'dancing in the streets' and cheering her passing were not even born when she was PM :!: I also remember the problems back in the 60's and 70's when the unions were calling strikes at the drop of a hat, 3 day weeks, power cuts etc if you think things are bad now...

    Any woodworkers/carpenters?

Good impact driver is the thing to use and as long as the bit is a good fit into the screw head, the harder you hit it the better it works :thumb:

This king keg will be the death of me!!!!

I must admit I've never done anything other than bottle, I keep seeing various problems members have with different kegs casks etc and each time realise there are few problems with bottles once you've got a decent stock

    any gardeners

First time I grew Pink Fir Apple spuds, Mrs put a huge pyxrex dish of them in the middle of the table with salt and butter on them, steaming hot, kids were about 12 & 14, eldest said 'whats them Dad, did you grow 'em?' 'Pink Fir Apples' said I, 'been on the telly recently...

    any gardeners

Even if you kept it for growing spuds, onions, leeks and other relatively low maintainance stuff that needs a quick once through with a hoe once a week, it'll be worthwhile keeping (or see if you could split the plot in half) :thumb: I had to give my allotment up when I moved, the only thing...
