    Making hops pop

Do you treat your water? Having a suitable water profile will help to match the style you are aiming for. If you haven't done so already perhaps have a look at @strange-steve's guides on water treatment.

First boil in a bag brew - damn, how did that happen!?

For me this is without heat. I use a separate mash tun and boiler so I mash in, recirculate and make sure the temperature is correct, maybe a degree above. Then I wrap it up and leave overnight - after 8-9 hours it loses about 10 degrees which I am happy with. I know my insulated mash tun will...

First boil in a bag brew - damn, how did that happen!?

Better yes. I currently have a pale ale in the fermenter which is a rebrew of one that was a bit thin first time around so I am hoping to have more body with this one

First boil in a bag brew - damn, how did that happen!?

+1 for overnight mashing. Even just for the fact that I find splitting the brew day makes it so much easier. Mash in and wrap it up for the night, set up a timer to heat the sparge water and it's all ready to go in the morning athumb..

Is a soylent Green dry hop normal?!

As long as everything you used was sanitised as is best practice then I'm sure it will be fine

Is a soylent Green dry hop normal?!

No... It sounds like a hop tea but then with putting the whole lot in the fermenter.

Is a soylent Green dry hop normal?!

I always just put them in as pellets, they will swell and break up anyway

What are you drinking tonight 2021?

Oh the boyish humour! :laugh8: Takes me back as its just the sort of thing my best friend from school would have said. Haven't seen him for years after he moved to Edinburgh, ironically probably in search of the muff diving centre :laugh8:

    Fuggle duck: my house bitter

Hi @foxbat I've been meaning to make this for a long time - do you still use the same recipe or have you tweaked it? (Or given up on it?)

What are you drinking tonight 2021?

Thanks @Hazelwood Brewery, I put the second half aside for an hour and that was much more to my liking. I could taste the rich caramel chocolate and lingering malt flavours. Went down a treat with our haggis this evening athumb..

What are you drinking tonight 2021?

Joining the party with a pint of @Hazelwood Brewery Sweet Stout This is a lovely dark colour with a rich chocolate head which diminished relatively quickly but remains around the glass as I drink it. There is a toasty sherry-like aroma and the taste is smooth roasty chocolate. Very well...

How long have you been brewing for?

Just over 2 years for me. It started when I was gifted a kit for Christmas by my partner's parents, something that I never would have thought of doing myself at the time. I don't think they realised that I would have to buy a set of equipment to make it but it didn't matter because I was hooked...
