    Festival razor back ipa

Give it a gentle stir and put the FV somewhere warm or increase the heat if you have brew belt or heater. However, be warned that it's quite hard to get a brew to restart after it gets stuck (I've had limited success where this has happened with Wherry in the past). I have bottled beer that I...

    First ever AG (thanks Clibit)

Time to treat yourself to a bench capper. I haven't found a bottle it won't cap and so much easier and faster than a hand capper.

    Coopers Wheat Beer Review

Here's the recipe I used which was based on various forum threads here: 1 x coopers wheat beer kit 1 kg Muntons wheat dried spray malt 40g orange zest (grated peel of 5-6 Seville oranges) 25g coriander seeds (lightly crushed) Safbrew t-58 yeast (this is Belgium style yeast which is more...

    fav brew tubers?

Ben @ MashHacks - I've only watched a couple of his videos but his 'simplest AG brew day' video had some really useful tips.

    Interesting new advertising

I got an ad for an ink bird pre-wired temp controller and promptly bought one (I'm easily led when it comes to advertising!) I have an old freezer in the garage that has been waiting over a year to be transformed into a brew fridge. One step closer with the ink bird...

    Razorback

I've just bottled my second batch of Razorback - it's a very good kit. Got to admit that I rarely open my FV after dry hopping until it's time to bottle, but i think it looks pretty normal - the hop pellets break up in the wort and the oil in them keeps it floating on the surface. I try to cold...

    Coopers stout with prune juice???

Took a bit longer than planned to get this one going. I couldn't decide whether to steep some chocolate malt with it. After ordering the malt I changed my mind as I didn't want it drowning out the fruit flavour from the prune juice. So, how did it turn out? Well, it's a bit early to tell as...

Have a go at simple AG

Thanks! It was the Cornish Tin Miners Ale recipe from Greg Hughes book. Described as a satisfying malty ale with undertones of blackcurrant. Has First Gold and Bramling Cross hops. Fingers crossed it will be a good one - I've only found one review online and the chap who brewed it was I bit...

Have a go at simple AG

Thanks Clibit - brewed my first all grain* this afternoon! 4 and half hours from Mash to pitching yeast. I managed to get a good boil temperature in one pot so I didn't need to have to split the wort and avoided the extra complexity. * It turned into a bit of a Frankenstein's monster of...

    Newbie looking for advice

No bubbles from the airlock doesn't necessarily mean it isn't still fermenting. It could just be the seal on your fermentor. It would recommend getting yourself a hydrometer to see what the gravity is and see whether it is dropping or stuck. You can buy one for £3.50 in wilkos. I don't think...

    Bad luck so pissed off

That is such bad luck - commiserations. Razorback IPA is one of the best kits I've brewed. I've got a second one in the FV at the moment. I use a glass thermometer on brew days. Now I have another thing to worry about!

Have a go at simple AG

This is an epic thread! I'm about to embark on my first AG having only done kits and a couple of extract brews so far. I have two large pots (25 and 15 ltr) but the rings on my electric hob are not powerful enough to get a good rolling boil with the lid off if I brew a large volume. I...

    Anyone doing dry January?

Dryish - no beers Tuesday to Thursday (but I could really fancy one right now)

    where to store Norfolk Nog?

Thanks for the advice guys. I had them stored there last winter and they seemed fine but it was very mild last year. I think I'll try a thermometer just to see what the temp difference is compared to outside and then keep an eye on the weather!

    where to store Norfolk Nog?

You've got me worried now: I store all my beer in the garage. Anyone got top tips for insulating bottles - I have about 400 sat on shelves. Don't really want to try wrapping them all up in bubble wrap!

    Coopers Stout Ideas and Recipes

I added 40g of orange zest which was about 4 good sized oranges finely grated. Remember to blanch the oranges in hot water first and then dry them with paper towel - this helps remove any wax from the skin. Good luck - should be a nice brew.

    Coopers Stout Ideas and Recipes

I've used orange zest as additions for a wheat beer kit and a dark ale kit (part of a winter spiced ale recipe) and you get quite a pronounced orange flavour even after boiling the zest with the water needed for the kit. Don't know how it would compete with the stout flavours, but definitely...
