    Absinthe wine?!?

Kilju? never heard of that before. Will google it and have a look at the results. I actually have an original recipe for the herbs in Absinthe and access to them to flavour it, but my biggest query is how long I should leave the herbs in the wine for, and whether to add before or after the...

    Absinthe wine?!?

I'm a big lover of Absinthe, and was thinking of making a white wine and then adding the appropriate herbs to give it an absinthe flavour. Does anyone know the most sensible way to go about this (aside from not doing it.lol). i'm unsure of whether it would be best to add them during...

    Cider Recipes

Now that sounds like a great invitation thanks, I might very well take you up on that. I have my family in Kent as well, so I'd be able to see them at the same time, obviously keeping the weekend open for getting stuck in with the work.

    Wine/Cider/Beer "Kits"

I'm trying a Belvino Australian red kit at the moment and its smelling rather good. It's cheap, which suits my pocket and quick which suits my missus. That leaves my demi's free while it brews in the fv, giving me the option to make something a bit more wacky and keep wifey happy at the same...

    Hi, just joined!

Hello and welcome. I've just started a kit for the first time. I took the cheap and quick version of a Belvino australian red 7 day kit, as I didn't want to go more upmarket until I got some practical experience. It's bubbling away nicely now after 5 days, and for 20 quid if I mess it up due to...

    which type of yeast

I done a batch of turbo cider not long ago, using champagne yeast. It tasted rather good, so i'd say to use that. But in all fairness as i'm new to brewing and have no experience with ale yeast you might wish to wait for replies from more experienced brewers for this, just thought i'd let you...

Any set rules to using dried fruits for wine?

I was just wondering if there is any set of rules to be followed for using dried fruits when making wine, with regards to approximate quantities. I know when using dried elderberries it takes a lot less than fresh elderberries, and wonder is this also the case with dried fruits? If anyone knows...

    Hello.

Okay, so here I am again, to let you know how it all went for me. The WOW i'm currently drinking a glass of as I write this and its surprisingly nice. Its not very clear, but I did forget to add pectolase so i'm going to take a guess that this is why it didn't clear. Me and the missus also went...

    Ginger beer making video

I enjoyed it. My first attempt at brewing was done with the help of my 4 year old twins and they absolutely loved it. Its nice to see parents nowadays doing something positive and creative with their children and having fun. Big thumbs up to you, so often you see parents sit their kids in front...

    Youngs super wine yeast compound

Lovely thanks. The batch of WOW i've got going at the moment is using champagne yeast, so i'm assuming this will work just the same, as that says up to 18%. I'm already planning further brews in my demis and a kit for my fv's. Don't know about alcohol being addictive, brewing it seems more...

    Youngs super wine yeast compound

I just bought some of this for making some WOW, will it be ok to push abv to around fourteen percent? I'm not sure how high this yeast can go, and i'm still new to brewing.

    Hello.

And before I forget, where should I look for some help with trying to make an alcoholic ginger beer? I know it's called Ginger Beer, but its not actually a real beer so i'm not sure where to put it. Does it qualify as a beer, or is it a form of wine with a misleading name?

    Hello.

Well i'm happy to say they are bubbling away nicely now. So now it's time to sit back and wait. Am very much looking forward to trying the finished product, but as its the festive season theres plenty of special offers to keep me going with the odd drink. And that way I don't need to drink this...

    Hello.

nice one thankyou. Actually found it really therapeutic making it. And as for the pineapple variety I just thought i'd try it for the sake of it. Will see how these turn out and after that i've seen hundreds of recipes i'd like to try. Would just like to get these ones done first. See if i've...

    Hello.

Ok, so finally got around to making some WOW today. I also tried switching the orange juice for pineapple juice in a separate batch. How long should it take for the bubbles to start coming up? I have them in a room which is constantly warm, so the temperature I think shouldn't be a factor in it.

    THE HOP SHOP, PLYMOUTH

Must say that this shop recently sent me my order, but the hydrometer was broken (royal mail presumably). I emailed them and within 2 hours I had a reply saying they were sorry and they are sending me a replacement. I'm not sure how the prices compare to other shops but I think customer care is...

    Yeast Guide

Tubthumper, that is precisely the information I was looking for, thankyou very much indeed. As i'm new to this I thought i'd best try and learn not just what to do to brew but also why it needs to be done. This will go a long way to helping me understand it all. Thanks again.

    Yeast Guide

Just wondering if anyone knows if theres a yeast guide out there, as theres hundred of types available and i'd like a bit of guidance on what gets used for what. Normally i'd google it, but any old clown can put something on the net and I wouldn't know whether its right or wrong, so I thought...
