    Stella clone

Has anyone out there got a very close Stella Artois clone. I've read up on some other sites and also have the Dave Line book, but would rather go for a tried and tested best effort from a member of this forum. Any suggestions on this one?

    Max time in the FV?

I confirm what Puravida's saying, as I've had brews stuck in fermenters for up to 4 weeks before now, and there was nothing wrong with the taste of the beer - but do remember to lower those temps for the duration if you have reached your target gravity :thumb: p.s. tip of the day for leaking...

    a question of gravity

9.240kg lager malt 480g lc malt 238g belgian aromatic malt 900g clear belgian candy 700g sugar wort volume was short of 7 litres (supposed to be 46 litres) Primary Activity stopped - placed into secondary and 900g of sugar added. I guess I'll have to sample the "syrup" sometime, cheers Moley...

    a question of gravity

I brewed a batch which started at 1.074 and at secondary had reached only 1.040 at which point yeast action seemed to stop. At secondary I added 600g of sugar (as per ingredients), which the yeast began to show activity towards for three days. When seven days at secondary had been completed and...

    beer to secondary

Hi, First brew since march - a duvel 32 litre batch, which I aim to flavour 10 litres of with coriander and orange peel. I have put all the brew into secondary and have added more sugar solution,as per method. I am not going to be able to do anything with it until next friday, which will mean...

Using StarSan with halfords deionised water.

Good item JagCrusher, and very enlightening - answered all the questions in one - I will revise my concentration to 1.6ml/1l, and I will swill from one bottle to the next when I'm next sanitising without worrying too much about traces being left in the bottles. I stand corrected and I am...

Using StarSan with halfords deionised water.

Hi, I use Starsan and it is 1ml per litre of water with all my brewing kit - nothing's been infected yet, but I may be wrong and extremely lucky. Whilst we're on the topic, Usually I rinse my bottles in a mild bleach bath. With Starsan I was hoping on trying to just rinse with water and then...

    alternatives?

Any positive thoughts about the following. I am planning my future 4 brews and I will be down to the following hop reserve (to use) on my final beer (a Leffe Bruin)- If I wanted to mimick some of the qualities of pride of ringwood (to 30 IBU for 5.5gallon)) out of 52g East Kent Goldings 5.2%...

MANY THANKS WENDY :thumb: - it's such a nice beer, I don't know why there hasn't been more interest in formulating such a recipe :hmm:

    buy one get one free?

Cheers for that suggestion. Having had a few hours to chew this over I'm beginning to think about the possibility of adding special b (10%) to the second brew with a dilution of 30% with boiled water...hopefully this will end up with a slightly lighter body and a caramel tasting ale of...

    buy one get one free?

I was thinking of brewing a fresh batch of a Duvel clone, and was wondering if I make some extra, could I try to convert this into another beer by adding coriander/orange peel/other (boiled to 15 minutes to sterilise) or changing yeast (to lager). Any ideas of possible alterations to the wort...

    Flavour without the alcohol?

Hi guys, Is it possible to turn out beers which have got most of the robust flavours of the likes of belgian ales and strong tasting lagers with only about 50-60% of the alcohol - I'm finding myself downing more units than I'd like to ..... and I do like a few pints when the time's right...
