Heads up re: backer Kettle Elements

I tested a backer 2.75kwh kettle element today. The element is the new type from The Heating Element Company. The shroud only screws on 3/4 of a turn without it even being installed into a boiler. To get it to fit a 33L fermenter the fibre washer has to be discarded as it simply won't screw...

    170L Stainless Boiler/Mashtun/HLT/Fermenter

This cost £360.00 in total. I can make a saving by buying a larger sheet of perforated stainless and having the chap cut it into 8 pieces. It's a work in progress as regards them being used for the systems I sell on Ebay. There is a stainless hook and handle for lifting out the perforated...

    Electric or Gas

That'll teach Me to read before I reply.

    Electric or Gas

If the HLT is well insulated then Electric is less wasteful of heat as it directly heats the water. It's also more convenient as it can be set on a timer for early morning brewing sessions. However I tend to use LPG Myself.

    170L Stainless Boiler/Mashtun/HLT/Fermenter

Going back to My original post. I've paid a deposit on the 170L stainless brewpot I'm having made up. I've taken UP's suggestion up of having it made from scratch! No longer have I got to $iss about with suppliers Who can not be bothered to return emails. I'll still use Nordic for the...

    170L Stainless Boiler/Mashtun/HLT/Fermenter

I've emailed them this morning. Hopefully they will get back in touch and then I can set the ball rolling. Nordic have always been the weakest link in My supply chain so it will be nice to have an alternative supplier. What I want to know is why no British company is making something like...

    170L Stainless Boiler/Mashtun/HLT/Fermenter

Hi, I've visited a local TIG Welding service to discuss having two 100L stock pots TIG welded together. The chap is keen to have a go and I should be taking a couple over to Him on Wednesday to get a price and to hopefully agree for Him to do the required work. I'm hoping to have some photos...

    Bridestone Iccle Brewery Latest Upgrade

UP beat Me too it! :-) Whether You are using Lager Malt or Pale Malt for a Lager style beer You can use a single infusion mash at around 64C for 60-90 mins for a crisper dryer taste. And it will be better than mass produced lager. You would have to store it at around 4C for weeks/months and...

    General Election stuff

It always takes cracked heads to get real change. Our forefathers fought for nearly every change that has come about since the days of kids working in cotton mills. The people of this country seem to have lost the ability to vote with their feet. We will all get the party We deserve.
