BIAB AG #2 Fursty Ferret Clone

Today was my second BIAB brewday. Went for a recipe based on Fursty Ferret. Thought I'd try a less hop-strong brew for my second BIAB. Still getting used to equipment. Didn't get too stressed about hitting targets etc. Used maxi-BIAB with my 32L boiler, 10L sparge and returned to boil...

    sundays endeavor

I don't mean to sound daft but what does adding hops at 0 mins actually mean? Anyone? Hope it went well for you, mate! Now comes the hard part... waiting. :thumb:

Looks a good recipe, I may use this in the near future once an FV clears up.

    AG#1 - Galaxy Blonde (1st BIAB) - Photos Added

Good luck with it and have a fun day. I did my first BIAB last Saturday and had a great time. Don't worry about numbers etc. The beer will be awesome!

First Brew - Already made a mistake?!

I did the same thing with my first brew. Didn't add any sugar. Came out not too bad but only around 2.8% alcohol.

How long do you wait before drinking your brew

1 day max. Then I feel disappointed in myself...

    First BIAB Harvest Pale Pseudo-clone...

Had a cheeky taste of this brew 4 days later. I've been worried about it for some reason. Taste really good already. Perhaps too bitter when compared to the Harvest Pale, but a great beer in its own right. Can't wait to drink this :drink: Gravity is down from 1.044 to 1.010. Looking to...

    Coopers Premium Selection Sparkling Ale

Started brewing this on 11th September and just had my first taste. Brewed it as recommended on the tin, with added malt extract, spraymalt and sugar, turned out quite expensive altogether! Brewed 25L rather than 23L @ 1.048, we're at 1.014 now and airlock activity has finished. Will leave a...

    First BIAB Harvest Pale Pseudo-clone...

Everything went well until I dropped the last 66g of hops on my kitchen floor after weighing out, then my brother knocked a plastic container into my boiler. Oh well  Came out with exactly 23L. I've gained a great insight into BIAB brewing and hopefully everything will go swimmingly...

    First BIAB Harvest Pale Pseudo-clone...

So after reading a load of stuff on here and watching a number of videos on YouTube, I decided to get on with it and finally do an all grain BIAB. I used a 33L Peco boiler to mash and boil in, using the maxi-BIAB method. I retained a 10L bucket of sparged wort for boiling once the volume of...

    Castle Rock Harvest Pale

Bump. Anyone got a "clone" recipe for this?

    How strong?

First batch I brewed came out at 2.9%, was a really good beer! However, similar to decaf. coffee, what's the point? I am for 4% - 5.6% anything over the magical 5.6% and stuff gets too warm!

Bru Heat Thorne Electrim Mashing Bucket

Thanks for that, mate. Quite an impressive boil time that! I guess if it's designed to boil stuff then it has to be fit for purpose. I imagine moving a pliable plastic bucket full of boiling hot liquid to be difficult though, appreciate the advice.

Bru Heat Thorne Electrim Mashing Bucket

Thanks guys. The buffalo boiler looks good apart from the reports that it cuts out before boiling. Wouldn't really want to be messing about fiddling to override the thermostat. I reckon I'll be looking for a plastic boiler with an increased volume.

Bru Heat Thorne Electrim Mashing Bucket

Apparently the volume is 5 gallons. So yeah, would probably need to quite a bit bigger for a full 5 gallon batch after evaporation etc. The single element wouldn't really be an issue for me (I say that now, with no experience). Really appreciate your reply, I will certainly be looking around...

Bru Heat Thorne Electrim Mashing Bucket

Just wanted to ask everyone's opinion on this piece of kit. http://www.wineworks.co.uk/product/brew-heat-bucket/ I'm wanting to get into BIAB brewing and am thinking this would be quite handy for mashing in the bag and then boiling from there. Apparently it heats to 100 degrees. Quite cheap too.

    Recommend me a beer kit

Thanks for that mate! I've got a Woodfordes Wherry lined up next, then I'm going for the Cooper's with some enhancer. My first batch of Cooper's English bitter with added spraymalt has come out really rather smooth and it's getting better every day (hard to leave it alone!!).
