    Pump won't pump!

In fact - ignore me - that is clearly most definitely not right! Seems the JG fittings been pushed on over the protective caps of the pump and blocked the fittings. THAT is the source of the problem. Have fished them out with a screwdriver. Should be game on now. Will ditch the non return...

    Pump won't pump!

OK thanks - will ditch them!! The JB elbow fittings also seem to have some sort of red plug obstructing them as per picture - does that look right?

    Pump won't pump!

Ahh - intersting - I think its definitley the non return valves that are buggering things up - and having them the wrong way round won't help. Just noticed they have arrows on them which I presume is for the direction of flow. Have changed them around as shown. Does that look better? Inlet to...

    Pump won't pump!

It's not patronising..! You are right - they are JG non return valves. I had not considered that I could have hooked the water to be pumped up to the pump outlet..! Was going on the basis of a photo elsewhere on the forum. But now that you mention it - you may have hit the nail on the head.....

    Pump won't pump!

UnclePumble -Not tried that but I'm pretty sure that the inlet/outlet are the right way around. Bru4u - i think you're right - if water not flowing through it under gravity there has to be an airlock or other blockage in the pump. Have packed it all away now but will do battle with the thing...

    Pump won't pump!

The pump is wired up OK and when turned on can hear the impeller spin OK, so don't think it's an electrical issue. I am pumping from the vessel shown in the arrangement in the picture. It doesn't flow under gravity alone. I'd expect to hear water flowing into and through the pump from the...

    New boiler pictures

Recently decided to go with gas for my boiler as I have converted my garage to a lounge and now have to brew outside. A Foker Square 8.8kw ring and Nordic 70 Pot was purchased and a test run done today. It was a rather windy day today and so needed to try and keep the heat under the boiler...

    Pump won't pump!

Hi, I recently purchased a pump from Norm and gave it a trial run today. Tried to pump water through it from the HLT. HLT positioned above the pump for gravity feed. Opened the tap on the hlt and let the silicone hose fill so no air bubbles then attached hose to the pump inlet. Tap throttle on...

    People from Fife - Help!

Hi, I'm in Dunfermline. BOC are who I use, on the same terms as you have described. Very easy to deal with. The monthly DD goes unnoticed as it is so small and gas refills are reasonable. And the man in the van will come and pick up your empty and drop off new bottle when needed. All in all...

    Gas burner recommendation

I have just bought a nordic 70l stockpot as a new boiler. I will brew a 40l brewlength in it so boiling about 55litres of wort down to 40. Can anyone recommend an appropriate gas burner/stand to use with this? Many thanks :D :D

Overnight mash - 2 stage brew

Due to time constraints, my brew tomorrow (an oatmeal stout) will have to be done in 2 stages with the mash tomorrow evening and the boil early sunday morning. I am wondering which would be the better plan, or if there is no difference between: Mash and batch sparge tomorrow night and leave...

    10/10/10 - Perfect Ten IPA AG#7

It was a good afternoons brewing. Everything went smoothly! I split it into 2 batches and pitched one with Nottingham and one with US05. It is now tucked away in the fermentation fridge. Hope it turns out to be a good 'un! :D
