    Thwaites Indus pale ale

Hi Guys, Would anyone have a clone recipe for Thwaites Indus pale ale? It is by far one of the nicest ales i`ve tasted in a long time and would love to try and make a batch, especially as the real McCoy is very hard to get over here in Belfast, I only know of one pub that sells it here and well...

    First AG brew

Hi guys, just started my first AG brew and the smell of malt around the house is amazing...i`m nearly tempted to grab a spoon out of the drawer and start eating the mash....hehe. Just starting off simple with a plain pale ale, gotta walk before you can run. Have a few refinements to make to my...

    Coopers light dry malt

I just put down two coopers yesterday morning ( Aust. Lager and their English bitter ). I used 1kg of BS for the lager and 500g BS/ 500g LSM for the bitter. It`s all sugar, but the SM adds a wee bit extra to your brew and will slightly darken your finished product.

    wine bottles and pressure

Hope you dont get in before me, I am always trailing through Guntree and Freecycle for bottles in the Belfast area. Starting at Bars now also lifting them from round the back Here mate, you watch yourself doing that, you could get yourself nicked for doing some unsavoury thing, you know the...

    wine bottles and pressure

I`m not keen on wheat beers, tried one at the continental market, in the big german tent, left half of it. I do like my pale ales and they have to be hoppy. Want to try a czech dark beer, I was in Prague a couple of years ago and loved their beer. Very similar to the bavarian beers, well then...

    wine bottles and pressure

I just received stuff that I ordered online ( 2 kits, Bs, spraymalt yeast etc. ) from a homebrew place in Co. Laios, £4.50 delivery and pretty reasonable prices. You should check it out Davy, certainly a bigger selection than Natures way, as it`s a dedicated brew store and not 1/2 health shop...

BTW Davy, where do you get your ingredients from, wouldn`t happen to be Natures way on the upp. Newtonards road?

    wine bottles and pressure

I like a bit of the black stuff myself, I used to do the lidl thing too, unfortunately the nearest lidl to me now closed and now the nearest is a couple of miles away and out of the way. If I remember rightly they used to do a lot of the Badger ales and fairly cheap. Doesn`t seem to be many from...

    wine bottles and pressure

We`re always on the hunt for bottles davybarman. The most fun way is to just buy loads of bottled beer. I`m drinking that Smithwicks pale ale at the present time, the only problem with doing it that way is the hangovers....OUCH!!

Thanks guys for all your advice, guess i`ll just use the wine bottles for their intended use, i`m planning to make an apple and strawberry wine shortly anyhow. Quirky brewers

Never ever look a gift horse in the mouth. Make the best off what you have. if it`s clear well cover it, stick it somewhere....uumm...dark, it ain`t fooking rocket science. I was hoping for a bit more than clear bottles. Scott `Bout ye big lad, ye ain`t going to get much tatey bread in glasgow `.

    Quirky brewers

One of the quirks i`ve noticed whilst reading a lot of the posts, is that some people have an oddity about using clear glass bottles and will only use brown or green. Fook me, decent re-usable re-cappable glass bottles hare hard to come by at the best of times .

    Quirky brewers

Ok guys, whats your wee quirks when your brewing. For me, I only clean, steralise, brew, bottle/keg in the same t-shirt and knee length shorts ( They are washed..lol ). I have 2 fv`s, marked fv1 & fv2, I would never brew a dark beer in fv1. I would never start a brew on a Sunday. Things like...
