    Sodastream experiment

Tony, just a thought. I wonder if using an old fashioned soda syphon might work. Fill the syphon with wine and then carbonate it and bottle it. might work :wha:

    Problem solved

Some of you may have read a post I put up some time ago regarding wine making in the tropics. I was having problems with the temperature here as we experience days well into the 30+ degrees I have purchased a new fridge without a freezer and a thermostat thingy designed for keeping aquariums at...

    Wine fermentation seems stuck

Many thanks for your replies gents. I will try doing the restart method that Bob spoke of. Yes I did use nutrient and CT. Chippy, yes it is hot here around the early 30s most days so that may have killed off the yeast. I guess it is a small price to pay for living in paradise :P So far, I...

    Wine fermentation seems stuck

Hi folks, I would like your opinions please. A few weeks back I started a brew of pomegranite and white grape juice. The Starting gravity was around 1.030. Around 3 weeks ago I noticed it had stopped bubbling in the air lock and thought that must be about right. Took a sample and checked the...

    Plastic bottles

A few weeks back I bottled some pawpaw wine in plastic bottles. As it wasn't a very pleasant wine to taste I wasn't too worried about using plastic. To back sweeten and to try and get some sparkle in it I tried using sparkling grape juice as an additive. Well a few nights ago, SWMBO and I were...

    Cloudy

Hi folks, not trying to hijack this thread , but on the subject of cloudy, I added some finings to a gallon of strawberry wine that I am making at the moment. It has finished working so I stabilised it and added the finings a couple of days later. It has been about a week since and it hasn't...

    Storing Wine -good places?

I have been thinking about getting a fridge to keep my wines in. A proper wine fridge is too expensive, but, I thought if I use a fridge hooked uo to a timer I could maybe run it for an hour and the off for three. If I placed a thermometer in it I could play around with the settings until I get...

Vodka or Gin For Christmas Presents

    White grape juice?

Where I live, it is virtually impossible to get WGJ. I have found only one stockist and at $12.00 aud per 750 mill bottle makes it very expensive to use. I have found sparkling white grape juice at about half the price and as we both quite like a sparkling wine I use it back sweeten when...

Vodka or Gin For Christmas Presents

With regards to the Kiwi Liquer might I suggest it aint that flash. I have one on the go at present and I may have to give to the mother inlaw  While the fruit is great to eat it just doesn't seem to make a good drink.

    Pawpaw wine first attempt

Hi Hulpy. I'm thinking I will age the Pawpaw 6 to 8 months although it is quite drinkable now. The 6lb of pawpaw cost me nothing as I grow them in my back yard along with mango and lychee. Waiting for theses two to fruit in about six weeks'

    First attempt at a WOW

Thanks for your input folks Pjam I have considered trying to grow my own grapes but as I live in a very hot and humid climate I feel growing grapes would present massive problems with mildew etc. It's a shame as it would be great to grow my own because white grape juice seems to be virtually...

    Just wondering ???

Just wondering if anyone has ever made or considered making wine using tinned fruit? If so would you think it best to use fruit in natural juice or fruit in syrup? :hmm: Or am I barking mad :wha: Keen to hear any thoughts on this. Big Al
