    For my last brew I decided to sift out about 1/2 kg of the powdery flour found in the pake malt. Has anyone else tried this?

    Yes I did think this was a possability - I've bottled 20 or so with some apple juice now - keeping them in the shed ! I'll probably bottle the rest just as it is and keep for a hot summer evening.

    I going to try carbonating in a kegg and adding some sweetened apple juice as it is just a bit too sour at the moment. once its tasting OK from the kegg I'll leave it for a week or so then bottle it and hope for the best.

    I borrowed an apple press and ended up with 23l of pure juice which I fermented with some cider yeast - when fermented out it was only about 3% which figured as the OG was 1.042. I added 250g sugar and fermented again. Its currently in a barrel charged with co2 and I need to work out what to do...

    I've noticed after many uses some of my glass beer bottles are looking a little grubby on the inside. I was wondering if anyone had considered using an ultrasonic cleaner - Vevor cleaner or is the cost here just too much ? Any thoughts, experiences ?

    Many thanks for all your helpful replies I'm going to go with the Klarstein machine - just checked their website and they removed the reference to a cooler so looks like new customers will have to buy their own now rather than requesting a partial refund:-(

Just making the move from kits to all grain and I have a question I need to decide on a grainfather/ACE/Klarstein type machine - or - separate boiler/mashtun.
