    Nøgne Ø IPA clone

This is a really good brew. I hope yours turns out somewhere close. Beers of Europe in Setch have it in stock HERE. I bought some from their shop this summer when I went on holiday in Norfolk - it went down a treat..

First Brew - BiaB Tire Biter Bitter

Congrats on your first brew! How much water did you use for the mash? Did you have a pot big enough to take the full volume or was the plan to top up in the fermenting vessel? Did you hit your target OG? Don't forget that if you are aiming for 5.6l of beer then you need to use a lot...

    Successful Sunday. Black IPA

Mmmmmm Nutella..... :D...sounds great! The carafa comes in two forms; Carafa 1, 2 and 3 or Carafa Special 1, 2 and 3. The higher the number the higher the roast. The "special" types have had the husks removed so you don't get the bitterness that the standard type and a lot of other roasted...

    Successful Sunday. Black IPA

Looks like a very interesting brew BS! I brewed the latest batch of my very successful BIPA yesterday but yours looks a lot more complex due to the number of grains (mine just used MO, crystal and carafa special 2). What are you hoping from the dark grains? You cold steeped them but I guess...

    Rye PA

Hi piddledribble. When I export the recipe brewmate shows the hops in g/l and the fermentables as percentages and I guess I should leave it like this so that others can easily scale the recipe up or down. But I always change the hops to the total weight at each stage but only because I don't...

    Rye PA

Hey Guys, Its been a while since I brewed an IPA so I put the following together to try a couple of things.. a. my first experience using rye malt - I have another 500g I could add if anyone thinks I should b. my first attempt at using english hops in the way you might use US hops in an...

    Wheat beer 2 Decoction mash

One of the thing that you get with decoctions is a lot more tannin extraction. In some beers you might want a bit of this bite in flavour but in others it might be undesirable. Of course if you are brewing something like a pilsner then these tannins will drop out during lagering..

    Beer bottle tops

Hi Seadog! Not sure if these are what you are after but they have come off some 1l lemonade type bottles that I sent to recycling a few weeks ago. As you can see there are 32 with the washers and one without. They all seem sound and the washers are good. They are yours if you want them -...

    Peter's IPA

I got a lot higher OG when I put your ingredients into some brewing software. The OG comes out at more like 1.075 and about 9% ABV beer at the end and you would have about 55 IBUs. This assumes that the cascade went in at flameout - if they went in before the boil ended they would have added a...

    Peter's IPA

That's an interesting brew. I don't think I have seen a brew with twice as much sugar as extract - what brewlength did you aim for? Also did all 100g of Challenger go in for bittering? How long did you boil them for? Sorry for all the questions I am just curious :hmm: Jim

Combining out of date yorkshire yeasts

I agree that it's a long shot but for the sake of a bit of DME its worth a try I hope.

Combining out of date yorkshire yeasts

How old were the yeasts you tried Mark? Do you think there is any hope for the one only 2 months over the best before?

Combining out of date yorkshire yeasts

Hi guys. I have a Wyeast Activator pack of 1469 West Yorkshire Ale yeast that is about a year over its best before and a Whitelabs 037 Yorkshire Square yeast that is two months past its best before. I am likely to be brewing a bitter on Sunday and am not sure if that is enough time to fully...

    Summer Brew Comments PLease......

I go for 90 mins in most cases but I have found with past brews made with a similar grain bill 60mins is enough. Also I don't want to make the process too long as it will be my brewmate's first AG experience...

    Have I overdone the Tettnang
