    Show us your brewery

There are some VERY impressive set-ups on here guys - I'm just a tad envious and would love something like that one day. Makes the bucket on the floor of my office look reeeeally sad!!

Adding fruit to a Cab Sav kit

Thanks! After reading your info I think this is the way I'll go.... Really? That simple?! I'll buy a 2nd kit today and try that! Thank you....

Adding fruit to a Cab Sav kit

Hi all, I've just bought a 30 bottle Cab Sav kit to start at the weekend but would like to add some fruit to enhance(?) the flavour. 1. Is this an ok thing to do or do I run the risk of upsetting the balance? 2. I'm thinking of raspberries - any issues? 3. Do I need to prep the fruit in any...

Red wine kit, overpowering weird smell

I've only made wine once back in December/January and I was like a kid when I bottled it! "I made that" etc etc etc. Sort of akin to the manly BBQ?!

4 out of 22 bottles spoiled

Have a look here: http://www.therange.co.uk/home_and_furniture_housewares_food_and_drink_home_brew/dept/fcp-category/list I received a complete kit as a gift from a client (who actually manufactures the kits, plus also supplies brands such as Smirnoff etc), and didn't really expect much after...

Red wine kit, overpowering weird smell

If you feel that you need a second opinion when you get to the tasting stage, please do not hesitate to ask. I am a very obliging person.....

4 out of 22 bottles spoiled

:p Ha ha ha ha!!! I have one lonely bottle in the rack that'll stay there for a couple of years to see if it improves. I know the taste of wine is subjective and I'm certainly no expert, but the kit from The Range came out OK in my opinion. My wife thought it was a bit 'thin' but I liked the...

4 out of 22 bottles spoiled

I made my first red brew in December (cheapo kit but bluddy luvly!) and of the 22 bottles I siphoned in January, four turned (after a few weeks) cloudy & undrinkable. Can I assume that I didn't sterilise and/or rinse these properly?

Red wine kit, overpowering weird smell

I came home from work one day about a week into my first wine brew and the house stank. It lasted for 2 days and then I suddenly realised it was the fermentation! Bear with it - the smell is worth the end result!

    Corks

Pleased to read this happens elsewhere as I had the same on my first ever homebrew in January and assumed I'd done something wrong!

To Buy Or Not To Buy?!

I am on the last bottle of my first ever attempt at homebrew, so I'm afraid your amendment to my OP (whilst side-splittingly hilarious) couldn't be more wrong :D I posted what was intended to be a lighthearted comment with an inference that I would be willing to donate in return for others...

To Buy Or Not To Buy?!

I believe I do - my OP was meant in a very lighthearted way and is coming from a total novice that has just completed his very first brew.

To Buy Or Not To Buy?!

Ok, so I just had a trip round Googletown and found that you're 'not allowed' to sell homebrew wine (tax implications etc etc etc). Granted, but wouldn't it be great if we could? Wouldn't it just be an ideal world if members could PM others with details of their current stash and offer it for...

    Data Protection rant

I was on the verge of exploding at that point so I said goodbye, calmed down & called back.........only to be told the same by another person. Although I felt a bit of an anorak I then called the Governments' Information Commission Office to ask them. The answer? The same...... Ever been in one...

    Data Protection rant

Thanks so much for your advice piddle, but my post was referring to the farcical conversation with the Police rather than the procedure that I need to follow. (Oh and incidentally (as per my OP) Tomtom asked for a copy of the report - not merely a crime number).

    Data Protection rant

My car was broken into on Saturday (6.30pm, on my drive!) and the (well hidden) satnav was taken. I'm having the glass replaced later today and in the meantime called Tomtom to de-register the unit from my account so the features are limited. The first girl asked for a copy of the Police crime...

    Humax Freesat question

Thanks a million Stuart. After a bit of a Google I discovered that part of the problem is the black film on the front flap. Following other users advice I carefully scratched this off in the inside circle that covers the remote sensor, and hey presto, instant improvement! I also emptied the...

    Humax Freesat question

Hi guys, Anyone have one of these? I dumped Sky in November and whilst I love the monthly saving, having one of these really shows how good the Sky box was. The software on this is irritatingly slow - is yours? I realise it's essentially a hard drive with a decoder but blimey, it takes an age...
