Umm. Right.. Is anyone up for a football thread?

Whenever I hear friends in the pub bang on about football it inevitably slides into some form of bragging and slagging affair. Not for me, off for a surf before the sunsets.

    Red grape and Apple

Thanks for the reply and links. I'm off to Wilko and Sainsbury's tomorrow to buy the ingredients and will be getting my first ever wine brewed. How long do you recommend leaving before it's ready to drink?

    Midland mild

Just put together 23l of single hop single Midland Mild. K.I.S.S is the order of the day. If the posty delivers my larger or kolsch yeast today I'll be getting a Pilsner or kolsch type thing on the go later.

Golden summer beer recipe from the home-brew handbook

Wozzers, that sounds right of target. Most, if not all of my beers are between 3.8 & 5.8 and I've never gotten anywhere close to 1.073. I guess that would come out at plus 8% I don't have the book, but I'd like to take a peep at the recipe.

    Might Stop Brewing Clone Beers...

Yes..yes..go run with it. The books are great to give us the basics of style etc. But the most fun in brewing is making your own. Just like cooking, styles are generally based on regions, environments and available produce. As a cook I see brewing styles as coming from similar backgrounds, and...

    Cyclist v Mr Angry

Haha that's made my morning so much brighter. There's nothing better than seeing a fluent gobsh!t£ face plant the tarmac. If he can't even jog in a straight line, god only knows what his driving is like...sesh:laugh8:

Czech pilsner with pale malt & kolsch yeast

Thanks guys for the advice. As it's fermenting at a lower temp is it advisable to add two packets of yeast? Have you tried the MJ Bavarian and Bohemian lager yeasts?

Czech pilsner with pale malt & kolsch yeast

Is this possible? I only have pale malt and CBA to wait for an order, and would like to get the brew on this Friday. I've some Czech Saaz hops on order from CML, and I have their Kolsch yeast. If I go with this option I wonder if this would need to be fermented at an ale temp say 18-20c, then...

    Midland Mild

I made the TT landlord recipe a while back and while a nice beer it was nothing like the bottled version. Although; I've never been lucky enough to try Landlord on tap so my view of what a real Landlord should taste like is no doubt skewed. I might give it a go without black malt to see the...

    Midland Mild

I think both books are OK. Re milds, bitters and stouts after learning some basic brews from GWs book I now do my own recipes. As I've never attempted any thing more like a continental style a guess GH will be a good starting point. It will not doubt go the way of GWs book, live on the top shelf...
