    Sultanas or raisins

Hmmm, :wha: I maybe didn't need to but I did want to know  Chealehay -- I use 'Value' in cooking and don't think there is a noticeable difference in flavour. They might be smaller (resists saying 'it's what you do with them that matters') that's all. I think all will...

    Pomegranate wine (Dessert)

:D I like it. I know someone who would like a bottle or two of that so it's one for me to make a note of. I have 2 litres of Prince's apple, raspberry, and pomegranate juice drink "in stock" which I'm thinking about how to use. I've not tried making a dessert wine yet.

    Pomegranate wine (Dessert)

How's this one going now? How is the colour? I'm liking making up different juice wines and have a few Dj's with what looks like liquid jewels in them.

    Super yeast

If you fancy a go with supermarket juices which ferment out in a week or so have a look for the WOW - Wurzel's Orange Wine - recipe or one of the threads with variations using Fruity teabags with red or white grape juice. Not the same as a kit wine at all I expect but they are easy, quick, cheap...

    Elderflower (lots of pics)

Where I am elderflowers start earlyish and are on their way out now but we collected a few on Sunday to freeze for later. When I started my current 10 litre batch on 15th June I didn't have a hydrometer. Had to use yeast and nutrient. I used 3lbs sugar so I reckon it was about OG 1.055. It was...

    Turbo cider - First attempt

I think either I have OCD or I'm just fussy too :D I got 9 or 10 D'js from a source that had hens running in and out of the house  Judging from a label on a couple they had the well glued on remnants of 1999 wines in them. So, I've had them 1. stood outside filled to the neck...

    Record Sheets, on excel

I bet :D Anyways cracking records. I didn't think to include a hydrometer table on the one I cobbled up.

    Record Sheets, on excel

Thank you. Er sorry to be geeky and sound off beam when you're doing me such a good turn but "ingredients" isn't spelled ingerdients - xls version. I'll just get my coat.

    Is a demijon necessary....

Yes, it's a good idea to use an airlock (bubbler) to let the CO2 safely escape and keep air, dust, flies, bacteria in the air etc out at the same time.

    Christmas has come early

Happy Ximas! I had to put a 'Wanted' ad on Freecycle to get some. I'm wondering how many different manufacturers there were. I fancy trying to get a full set.

Supermarket juice wine - Apple, Peach, and White grape.

Yes, at a heaped teaspoon per gallon. I also bob in a teaspoon of nutrient per gallon. My fruit juice wines are loving it. The label says Bentonite (for assisting clearing) Dried wine yeast, Diammonium phosphate (a source of nitrogen), Trace Vitamins and Trace Minerals.

First EVER Brewday...TC and a wurzel!

That's it for you now, no going back. I've been nabbed by the bug too. I'm reading and scribbling notes like it is going out of fashion :o I put a gallon of WOW on this afternoon (taking no chances it is in my Fv) and I'm going to have a brew day tomorrow. Cheers!

    Straining off the must

I hauled the big bits out with a spoon then used a double layer square of muslin to line my large funnel. I rinse it under a running tap to clear any debris/wash it. To save it from tearing when done I lay it on a clean tea-towel, roll it into a sausage and then wring out the sausage gently.

    Elderflower whine question

This is my first attempt and I have suffered from enthusiasm. It's like this...I got enthusiastic while intending to make elderflower champagne. Flowers, sugar, lemons, vinegar and water, nothing else. So I gave it yeast and nutrient, transferred it to 2 Dj's 2 weeks ago and watched it blurp...
