Hi Windy, I have given it an extra little turn and it appears to be holding pressure. When I've finished this brew I will take another look at the top of the keg with your glass method. Thanks again :thumb:

I don't believe this. I have lost all pressure from my latest brew (again)! When I put the top on I was careful not to overtighten it 'this time'! I tightened it 'finger tight' and then gave it another nip. Apparently not enough. I've just gassed it and its leaking around the top...

I'm just glad I don't drink lager. Its never been an issue with me because its an imposter 'IMO' :nah:

Its just a guess but I'm thinking that anything over 10 psi will let off through the safety valve, and 150-180 sugar will mean that gas will 'go on' being produced as a top up? Of course I could be talking billhooks but its just an idea :whistle:

I've never used bottles but I am relatively new to brewing. Do you not have a problem with sediment rising when you open them?

One of the reasons these Kegs are so unreliable could be that we don't complain enough. Its all very well doing a repair but if the repair fails the manufacturer wont want to know. If I bought a garment with a hole in it, Would I sew it? I doubt it. Take the bloody thing back and demand a refund...

Yes I agree. Mine too had a small lump as you described on the tap seal. It did occur to me to do a repair job but for £50 a throw you shouldn't have to correct bad workmanship. After not everyone has the tools or the know how to take on a repair and if no one makes them aware of it, it doesn't...

I emailed Youngs to the other day regarding the Keg. They basically told me that they do not manufacture them but they are glad that I told them about it. To cut a story short, even though its not their resposibility, they have very kindly offered me a replacement 'kit' for the brew I lost. So...

I had a problem with losing gas and discovered that the valve hadn't been tightened enough. I suppose it was this that caused me to over tighten it. It was certainly more than 'end of finger tight' :whistle: I think you have hit the nail on the head. Thanks guys :thumb:

I have just finished my second brew from my King Keg. Its happened again! I cant get the top off. I do have a dodgy shoulder but it occurs to me that to get the top off I need two hands to hold the keg firmly and another two hand to try to turn the top. Does anyone else have this problem and...

I expect this has been asked before but has anyone used Grolsch bottles for storing beer? I usually use a king keg but when we go camping it would be nice to take my own beer :D

Update on this bloody King keg. This is my second brew and the last one was ruined. Towards the end of the keg I had to carbonate it twice. I put this brew in the keg 5 days ago and it tried it yesterday. It was flat as a witches tit. So I carbonated yesterday and did a soapy water test....no...

I've made up a recipe for mead. 2 jars honey (900grams) 2 lbs of plums (for flavour and colour) Tannin Juice of a lemmon 1 tsp pectic emzyme 1 tsp yeast/nutrient I put the honey into 3 pints water and mixed it thoroughly. Added this to the plums, lemon juice and pectic enzyme in DJ for two...

Just come back from Whitby and whilst there I saw some 'Lindisfarne Mead'. Got me thinking if anyone here has a recipe and is Mead restricted to wine or can it be beer also?

Yes my WOW turned out that way too. A good flavour (if a bit sweet) but not much of a kick :(
