1/2" to 3/8" sparge arm tubing question???

I have bought the brupacks rotating sparge arm which comes with 3/8" pipe that fits on to it snugly.. but my setup runs from a 1/2" ball valve tap with 1/2" silicone tubing. I purchased a john guest fitting to go from 1/2" to 3/8". The sparge arm tubing fits the 3/8" but neither my 1/2"...

Stainless steel workbench for gas setup

I'm have just bought a new gas setup to brew with and decided to buy a stainless steel workbench too. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/251312660949?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 My question for the gas brewers is, how hot is the bench likely to get underneath the burners and...

    70l or 100l Shiny pots?

Good write up Kev, very detailed. I haven't got the thermopot MT yet, I was going to see what the standard pot does when wrapped in the foil and then I'll use another camping mat or something if it's not up to scratch until I've got more spare reddy's for the thermopot. After speaking to...

    70l or 100l Shiny pots?

Getting it from powell brewing. It will be a gas setup with burners included. I know the cost of gas isn't cheap but after issues with elements previously bombing out mid-brew, I'm going to give it a go. As you get a regulator with the setup, it seems I'll be able to control the heat better...

    70l or 100l Shiny pots?

That was how I decided in the end. When I considered the final outcome of a usual (my usual being 30l boil, 23l final beer) double brew, I would have been near to the top of the 70l pots, so went 100l as I was currently running close to capacity and occasionally boiling over on my current set...

    70l or 100l Shiny pots?

I've heard of them being used as MT's before but as the new setup will be gas, are they safe to use as HLT and kettle? Thought they had foam insulation between the steel.

    70l or 100l Shiny pots?

I'm currently running a 30l boiler and mash tun for my brews. I get less time to brew these days so when I do I need to get more brewed in less time. I have been looking at a 70l stainless steel setup, containing HLT, MT and HLT, (not sure of the rules of linking the external website for the...

Sorry for a newbie question but... can that be mounted safely inside and linked up to the STC1000?

    Chest freezer to fermentation chamber

Hi guys, this may have been answered before but I've searched and found similar questions but not the exact info. I'm considering buying a chest freezer to help insulate and maintain a decent fermentation temperature for my FV's. I'm recently moved house and the only space I can use now is my...

    Wheat Beer Recipe

I'll be honest, I don't have any recipe to base something on as I'm fairly new to AG brewing, only 6 brews in. I am after a wheat recipe that will be a nice refreshing drink for a birthday BBQ bash I'm doing in a month and a bit time.... I know, last minute. Have any of you lovely people got...

    Group buying hops

I'm the same Vossy, I'm not interested in making money from it, just like the idea of bringing the costs down. Good beer brewed cheaper would taste a lot better! :D Looking forward to seeing what simply hops have planned for the new year... Hopefully 100g packs will be available at the low...

    Group buying hops

ArtyB, just seen that you are a fellow Northamptonian too! :thumb: the hops I was looking at buying from simply hops worked out to 82p per 100g. Was thinking of buying the 5kg, vacuuming them up in 100g bags and shipping. Total would be £2.30 ish including delivery. If you are local though...

Suppose with £1-£1.50 postage would make 100g hops £2.50-£3 posted... Hmmm

    Group buying hops

I've got a vacuum sealer so was considering sealing the hops and mailing. Would have to cover the cost of vacuum bags and postage on top of the hops as well.

    Group buying hops

Does anyone do this already? If not I'm considering buying in bulk and offering out the remaining hops for cost, with the hope of reducing brew costs. What's the general concensus on doing this, has it been tried before?
