    Hydrometer Accuracy?

Thanks for the info, I usually drink the contents of the trial jar! It's still the same price by the way. The £19.99 is without vat.

    Hydrometer Accuracy?

Thanks, they're both out by about 4 so if I deduct that from 1.030 it's still too high to bottle. I'm sure fermentation has finished but I don't want any bottle bombs!

    Hydrometer Accuracy?

Hi, I hope someone can help. I replaced my old hydrometer as the readings didn't seem realistic e.g. strong beers reading 1.002 F.G. I replaced it recently with a new Munton's hydrometer which seems to be reading high, 12 points higher than the old one. I've had Woodeforde's Headcracker...

    Hello from Stellenbosch, South Africa

A belated welcome from me. You're right about the craft beer revolution, I was there in March this year and went back to Banana Jam Cafe near Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens where they now have their own brewery. Worth checking out if you're ever in Cape Town, you may even be supplying to...

    Bulldog, Evil Dog Double IPA

This was the first kit I made after coming back to brewing in 2014. I bought 2 following the rave reviews and a Bulldog Easter Chocolate Stout. First taste of the Evil Dog from the fermenter was not like any beer I've tasted, in fact not like beer at all. More like sour grapefruit juice. I...

    Brewdog Punk IPA

Yep, 8 pints (or 7 if you don't drink the sediment) + £7 postage makes it £5.87 a pint. Somehow I don't think they'll be too many reviews of this one on here.

    Me too, thanks.

    bulldog easter brew

Mine turned out to be a drain pour. Horrible, musty taste that was there right from the start. Before fermentation it tasted like cheap supermarket cooking chocolate and didn't improve. Of the 456 pints I brewed last year, the 3 Bulldog brews were the most disappointing.

    Coopers stout

How did you prime it? (You did prime it?) Was it kept in a warmish place to allow for secondary fermentation in the bottle? I've recently brewed this and it is the quickest fermenting and conditioning brew yet. About 3 weeks from start to finish and improving daily.

    Move over Fullers...

If it's Fuller's you're after the Festival Razorback I brewed reminded me very much of ESB. My favourite is Fuller's 1845 and I haven't found a kit that comes close yet...

    bagged hop pellets

Welcome to the forum! Just leave it where it is rather than disturbing the beer and risk infection. Next time you might want to tie the bag to a metal knife, some people put marbles in a muslin bag to weigh the hops down so they sink. I've not had much luck with that brand myself, the hops...

Best Beer Kits you have brewed

Yes, 24 pints. In hindsight it would have been great to double up with 2 kits in the FV to 40 pints. That makes it about £1 a pint or to put it another way - 58p for 330ml, a fraction of the price you'd pay for a quality beer.

    Coopers Original Stout Review

That's some recipe! I'm just a novice and in the process of starting my first one, not sure whether to add any crystal malt as I want it dryish. I've boiled 50g of Columbus hop pellets for 15 minutes, added 2 Twining's Liquorice teabags for 2 minutes, 1 Camden tablet, 1kg Munton's Beer Kit...

Best Beer Kits you have brewed

    1) Festival Razorback - Hoppy and heavenly 2) Woodforde's Headcracker - Malty and moorish 3) Wilco Golden Ale - Very versatile & delicious 4) Cooper's Dark Ale - Surprisingly good for a one can kit 5) Woodforde's Wherry - A good honest pint, when you finally get there I tend to brew...

    Wilkinsons Golden Ale

I'm currently brewing my 3rd one of these kits using 3 cans, that's 4.5kg of extract. I added 75g of whole hops from my garden to the initial boil along with 250g of brewing sugar giving a starting gravity of 1.072. I used Gervin English Ale yeast as the previous kit yeast left a slightly hazy...

How and when do you put bee into a keg

A lot of folk put honey in their beer, just taking one step out of the process by adding bees.

    Fuller's Vintage Ale 2012 F.G. 1.022

Not my usual Tuesday night tipple but I thought I'd treat myself to A Fuller's Vintage Ale, one of my favourite beers, to make room for my home-brew of course... I have all vintages going back to 2004. I'm brewing a 3 can Wilco's Golden Ale which seems to have finished at 1.020 so I thought I'd...

    Crowner Recommendations?

Which is exactly what I did when my Young's plastic capper bent and twisted after a few brews. It's a pleasure to use and can tackle most bottles though it dosen't like some of the Fuller's ones with thick necks.
