Hi all

Having a bit of a nightmare with ball lock posts that were on a SAFER keg.
Bought it second hand and everything seemed 100% at the time.

Went to transfer some cider into the keg and immediately started getting liquid trickling out from around the liquid post and the gas post started to hiss.

When I physically checked the gas post, it popped straight off the keg. A little POd that I never noticed it before now.
Just thankfully that the liquid side didn't pop off while transferring. That would have been quite the mess.

Issue now is that I can't seem to get it to stay on.
Do these types of corny keg have a specific post that is supposed to go onto them?
I'd hate to have lost a keg over not having a post that fits.

Cheers🍻🍻

Yep. Bit more digging has revealed that I'll need a different post set.
Fella I got it off has put brand new universal posts on it and as they were threaded down tight likely didn't notice an issue before shifting. Can't blame the guy, they're brand new posts so the best of intent was there.
Going to be contacting TMM as I see they have some available.for.used SAFER corny kegs.

Sounds unlucky. Like you say, seller tried doing the right thing. I had a similar experience where I paid £50 for a second hand keg that needed half as much again the same again spent on replacing parts. I hope you manage to get it fixed.

The only danger now is that the threads are borked from putting the wrong posts in.
This has crossed my mind and I'm not gonna lie I got a magnifying glass out to inspect. All  seems okay but i won't know for certain until I get around to getting the new posts and putting them on.
I'm taking the fact that the diameter of the male threaded part on the keg body seems slightly smaller than the female thread on the post so jt may have saved itself as the threads haven't been forced and stripped.
Will have to see how it goes😅

The post thread size for a SAFER AEB Cornelius keg is 9/16-18 UNF on both the in and out.
I purchased mine on AliExpress but I'm sure The malt miller or BKT good help you out.
