Just started a brew and the first few temperature readings are showing 0.0, was reading room temp prior the dropping it in, any ideas what could be wrong with it?

I've had that occasionally.. Turn it off and on again. Seriously.

Sometimes it takes a few times. No idea why it does it. I check it is reporting temperature correctly currently before chucking it into the fermenter

It's already in the fermenter, I would leave it alone
Depends how urgently Jonco wants the temperature readings. I've sprayed my fingers with starsan, plucked it out of the fermenter on day 1, restarted it (checked it was reporting temperature), sanitised it again and dropped it back in no problems.

If it was at the the of fermentation, then I wouldn't do it.

Yeah was absolutely fine, will have to wait now as in a pressure vessel

OK, so these aren't recommended in pressure vessels.

So here's my experience:

1. Make sure it's tight. Really right. Because pressure does strange things to rubber grommets.
2. Don't believe it. Again, these aren't recommended nor tested under pressure. The gravity is always slightly out.
3. It might just be me, but don't cold crash it. Mine simply stopped working. It's working now, so I didn't kill it, but it just stopped sending results.

Strange, so it stopped working completely this morning so I ordered a new one.
Pressure not been an issue and I have another conditioning in the fridge which is still working perfectly.

If you have the ability check the battery voltage readings of this ispindel in its recent history.
If there is liquid ingress often see a rapid tilt angle change and battery losing charge fast.
One of my ispindels sank in a NEIPA finished the ferment, fished it out washed and dried then a new battery and it worked again.
I now have O Ring in the cap and no leaks in 50+ brews.
I put a little silicone oil on the rim of the petling and tighten then loosen a bit until tight.
