Make it with stout?
I'm really confused by this thing - an induction double boiler.
To explain - you'd normally use a double boiler to heat gently and evenly. The reason for using one is because gas stoves burn at 140C+ and can heat quite unevenly. In the case of porridge I can see you could end up burning the milk or starches.
But why would you need an induction one? Any half decent induction stove should be capable of very gentle heat, and they will heat quite evenly too. Using a double boiler on induction is like having a horse pull your car.

I have a gas hob , I reckon that the pot works on all options of heat rather than exclusively induction
That's what I mean - you'd specifically use it for gas, and it shouldn't be required on induction.
Putting aside kitchen equipment boondoggles - heating oats on a hob is certainly superior to microwaving, and it's not that much slower. I find the stirring while heating quite meditative.

(Like pressure brewing but in a microwave)
Set up night before 1cup jumbo oats 1 water. Cook- on medium (900W (or it'll go everywhere)) Add chopped apple, plums and dried apricots.
Add nutmeg, ground ginger, sweet cinnamon.
Once cooked add strawberries blueberries and Freeze dried dried cranberries.
Put back in microwave for final blast. Add cold milk
Enjoy

I tried the water and Bovril version last night, curiosity got the better of me, not remotely impressed. I wouldn't go as far as to call it disgusting but it wasn't pleasant.
I think I'll just stick to the tried and tested 'overnight oats' with milk and honey.

I think savoury porridge does need a taste bud reset. Chicken Stock porridge works.

Oats is oats, right? Right? Well I thought so and for a couple of decades have stuck to various supermarket own brands, with the budget ones coming out more favourable.
Until… When doing my online supermarket shop last week I was curious why Scott’s Porage Oats are rated so highly on user reviews. Are they really worth 3x the cost of budget oats?
So I bought a box, and oh my. Smooth and creamy porridge with a lovely consistency in no time at all, although they also absorb quite a lot more liquid.
My eyes are opened. I think they’re worth the extra and I’d recommend giving them a go.

Oats are sooooo different.
Cut, rolled, jumbo or ground all very different.
I prefer Aldi Irish oats. Kavanaghs I think. Green top.
Also recently bought some local grin hand rolled jumbo oats. Like eating hot gravely! Probably make them in flapjack

As for recipes, I like 50/50 water and milk, then when done I chuck in some of this ground flaxseed and nut mix, and top with a few chocolate chips

Only stumbled across this thread. Porridge is made with Milk preferably full fat. Some sugar to sweeten, I use local honey. It also needs to be made in a pot not a microwave. One child stirs in chocolate spread the other changes between peanut butter or biscoff. If I could I would disown them but apparently it's not possible.
I have the same dislike of people who put brown/red sauce on stew. Or even worse into homemade vegetable soup.
On this freedom of choice should not be an option

Could be a winner: instead of oatmeal stout, we could have stout dregs porridge!

bung some olive oil in to your porridge, makes a good porridge great!
