Has anyone been effected, people ringing 5 live saying they cannot get doctors appointments, some banking access is failing, shop checkouts are not working, problems at airports etc.

It's a Microsoft system and crowdstrike software the experts think it's probably a crowdstrike security update that has gone wrong.
Summary
- Major IT outages are hitting industries across the world, with airlines, broadcasters and supermarkets affected
- Queues are growing at many airports; American Airlines is one of several airlines to ground flights - it says problems are due to a Crowdstrike cybersecurity software issue
- Microsoft says it's taking mitigation action, but the cause of the outage hasn't been confirmed
- In the UK, trains, shops, airports, pharmacies and some GP surgeries in England have been affected
- Earlier, Sky News was unable to broadcast live
It’s to do with a bit of security software that watches for malicious processes on machines.
It seems to have identified something in some windows installations as a problem and started bricking them.
There’s a lot of companies using it, and I’m assuming that includes Microsoft in their data centres, which has meant the issue has gone way wider than it would have otherwise.

Crowdstrike have released a statement saying they are aware of the issue they have found the problem and are fixing it they are getting a slating for not apologising for the inconvenience they have caused and their shares have dropped 21 percent already.
