A mojito to start the day 🍹

A couple of beers for the footy. Finally got a TT to compare. Mine still hasn’t cleared it might be a bit of chill haze as well as the fridge is too cold for a bitter. Colour wise it’s not too far off needs something to add a bit more colour, it has better head retention and lacing, could be the glass though. Not quite as bitter and perhaps a bit more floral, perhaps the EKG as a hop stand. Not a bad first effort.

After a miserable day weather-wise it’s suddenly cleared up and turned nice. I’m starting tonight with a McEwans Champion because I’ve seen it on the Forum a couple of times recently and can’t remember ever drinking it. I’m actually quite struck by how much it tastes like a beer I brewed some time ago.

Back home £90 lighter (we split the bill) its not a wonder pubs are closing so regularly love the place and the food and beers but who can afford to do this regularly, not me.

Next up is a version of Five Points Best Bitter from @dave_77 I don’t have a bottle of the original to compare it with but who cares if it’s nice - and it is. It’s a lovely bitter - beautiful malt flavour (dark bread crust), slightly spicy from the hops, just the right bitterness (a little less bitter than 5-points), and just look at that head. Thanks Dave. 👍

I like Amstel. It;s made by Heineken, but is drier. I like the flavour of Heineken, too, but it has a residual sweetness that spoils it.
For me it’s incredibly nostalgic I can remember the big brown bottles when I was on holiday in Greece with my parents as a kid (and getting to take them back for the deposit to spend on more appropriate for children beverages).

And speaking of Greece I am having a glass of Metaxa.
