    Parsnip wine not clearing

    I started a 2 gallon brew of parsnip wine on 2/1/24 Fermentation was in a plastic FV before transferring to the glass demi johns. I filled one demi john but did not have enough to fill the second; so added a liter of apple and ginger juice form the supermarket to make up the difference...

    Cleaning stained demi johns

    I've been kindly given 6 demi johns but they are stained inside. I think they weren't cleaned properly and then left outside. Any thoughts on the best way to remove the marks? Thanks folks

    High initial SG

    Carrot wine today. 1800g carrot 900g sugar Added 750g of sultana instead of 340g !! Citric acid 2 tap Not added yeast yet. Temp is cooling down from 34° at the moment. Took a SG reading at it's so high. See picture. Advice please.

    Chopping sultanas

    Quite a few recipes include chopped sultanas. Any tips on how to easily chop 1 Kg+? I've tried but they all stick together and mush up the knife. And I like to keep 5 fingers on each hand ! Maybe they don't have to be chopped? Thanks

    DWB added when?

    I'm making a SMASH stove top 10 liters tomorrow. I'm in a soft water area and plan to add 10-12 gm of DWB. At what point should it be added? Thanks folks

    Calcium addition for bitter

    I'm a new 10 liters stove top brewer. SMASH usually. Love a good bitter. I live in Scotland and although I haven't had my water analyzed I know it's soft. I'm keeping it simple as possible so; how, what, much and when, should I add to my brew to help with a good water balance. Thanks in advance.

    White sugar addition to mash?

    3rd all grain what's gone wrong.

    Stove top boil. 10 litres. Pale malt 1200 gm + 6 gm black malt. Mashed 1 HR. Then boiled 1 HR. Fuggles 10 GM at start, then 10 GM after 45 mins .     Drilling a lid for an airlock grommet

    Advice please. I have to fit an airlock to a plastic lid. I have the plastic airlock and bought a black rubber grommet. I have a measurement for the outer and inner parts of the grommet.     Qrisk

    After Xmas dinner chat turned to Qrisk. Any folks like to share their thoughts? Just an indication, I believe. It also showed my BMI. I was 25.61 Kg/m2 Slightly over optimum range. So I had a second helping of Christmas pud.

    Beer names

    When a brewery is about to launch a new beer, how do they check that the name hasn't been used before? Is there a central registry that holds names? Same issue for cars. Asking out of interest since I've just seen an amazing amount of different beers here on a visit to New Jersey.

    Change one thing

    Loving kit brewing but would be interested to hear views on how best to improve a kit If you could change/ adjust one ( or 2 ! ) things to enhance a beer / bitter, what would it/ they be? Brewing sugar v granulated? LME? A better quality yeast? Water adjustment? Thanks folks Matt

    How long to leave in a warm area

    Finished bottling a Mangrove Jack Baltic Porter. All went well. Thoughts on how long to leave the bottles in a warm room environment before moving to the colder garage. Bottles have been sitting at a snug 16/18 degrees for six days now. Many thanks

    Just started a Mangrove Jack's Baltic Porter and noticed the yeast enclosed is Californian Lager Yeast - 20g. Is this an error? Kit bought from Brew2Bottle as a short dated offer. Pack unopened and all other contents looked good. Added 1.2Kg of liquid malt enhancer. SG 1060. Looking good but...
