I have 200g Zeus to use (aa12.8%)

Apparently .... "Zeus has been noted as pungent, almost flowery"

I'm thinking of using them alongside Perle & Cascade in an APA whaddya think?

Anyone used Zeus before?
 
12.8% AA?? jesus christ! :shock:

a few grams too many of those in the boil and you'll know it :cool:

i'd be interested to see what they taste like for bittering :thumb:

Just realised, Wez, that it wasn't an American Amber that I used Zeus for - it was an American-style ESB. Modelled after Redhook's ESB

In any case, here's the recipe if you're still interested. I really liked it, personally - malty, but slightly sweet; good bitterness.

Cascadia ESB

Original Gravity: 1.055
Measured Original Gravity: 1.016
Estimated Alcohol by Vol: 4.99 %

Bitterness: 48.0 IBU
Est Color: 12.4 SRM (24 ECB)

Grains:

11.75 lb Pale Malt (3.0 SRM) 90.73 %
1.20 lb Caramel/Crystal Malt - 70-80L (75.0 SRM) 9.27 %

Hops:

1.00 oz Zeus [16.40 %] (60 min) 48.0 IBU
0.75 oz Cascade [7.20 %] (0 min)
1.00 oz Williamette [5.10 %] (Dry Hop 14 days)

1.00 tsp Irish Moss (Boil 10.0 min)

1 Pkgs London ESB Ale (Wyeast Labs #1968) - planned for this, but actually used 1098. Would use 1968 from now on.
