Talk about timing - I was about to post a message asking about a Young's Lager yeast that I've found in a local store. It states that it is a proper bottom fermenter (no not sh1t) - would this do for lagers of different types (+pilsners) or would it ruin a brew. Please comment if anyone's used it.
I take it that you won't be using Young's in your ale next time James !??

Hi,
I have been in contact with Young's and have been given the following information regarding their LAGER YEAST,which I thought would be helpful to the forum :
Best to ferment at 15C then lagering at 4-5C is fine but will take many weeks.

Fermenting at 15C will produce good lager flavour result - fermenting at 10C is possible but there would be a high risk of contamination due to the length of the ferment. The Lager yeast is Mauri strain L497. If fermented cool (ie 15C) it will produce an entirely different end result.

Cwrw :D
